  1. Thanks Mike I’ll check again. I don’t want to hijack in case it is far from the subject, but wanted to leave here what I learnt back when we were buying our house. what we were told was that transfer upon death does not recognize these marital exemptions when the US citizen is the one who passed first. I’m not the most knowledgeable though. I admit to just feeling pissed and scared of having to think losing my spouse at that moment 😅
  2. One reason for me that isnt mentioned here, was estate taxes. As we bought a house together, if my spouse passed away when I am not a citizen, there would be different rules applying to me. It may not matter if I just sell the house, but if I wanted to stay here I would have to deal with all that while coping with losing my husband. And who knows especially if I have children. Im not really finance oriented person but it just felt like too much extra to deal with in an already sad time.
  3. You’re right. in my mind cause I didn’t get anything for the pending i751, it was just a n400 interview. But in the end that was the combo 👍
  4. Had interview 2 weeks ago under 3 year rule, pending i751. Came to us as a k1 and had my AOS interview in the same office. Completely regular and was not expecting an interview for I-751. n400 did not mention my husband at all, nor had any interview set for combo. My husband came anyway, we thought maybe they’ll let them in the building so I won’t wait alone. IO, first took in my husband for an interview. It was funny cause I was telling my husband they probably never even talk to you, and also explained how some people get stokes and what that is 😂 our interviews were always mellow before n400. N400 was nice interview too but I really was confused for a sec. anyway 10 min later I went in and officer continued with 2 of us together. Continued to my civics etc. so I don’t really think there’s a definite rule there To sum up - nothing regarding husband coming to interview on paper - was not expecting interview for i751 nor had any change to my status regarding interview - husband went in alone at the start - they did my civic test etc all with my husband there sitting next to me - Got approved there and oath in the next ceremony same day
  5. Thank you guys! Def not doing that! Thanks
  6. Hi everyone, I got n400 interview scheduled and as I filed online I have the letter in my online account. I did not receive anything physical. If I end up not receiving it until the interview date is it ok to just take printout from the online version? Or do they want to specifically see the physical copy they send? basically does asking for this document to be send worth the effort? Thanks!
