  1. Files under 5 year rule and no, no guests allowed at interview or oath ceremony 😭
  2. My husband had his interview at the Tampa office this morning at 11:20. And it was over by 11:33. APPROVED! The officer was super friendly. We had forgot to list two cruises that we had gone on in the travel section of the application. They were so long ago and we were going off of stamps in his passport for the travel. And of course you don’t get stamps in your passport on cruises. He was able to update his travel section at the interview, and it was no problem at all. The questions he got asked were: Who is the father of our country, what are the political parties of the United States, what is the rule of law, what war did the US fight in the 1800s, who is the vice president right now, and what ocean is on the West Coast? For the reading and writing portion, he had to read where is the White House? And he wrote the White House is in Washington DC. Oath ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow!
  3. Honestly idk what I need this for. I just read on here (VJ) to ask for certified copies at the end of your interview if you are approved?
  4. I am on USCIS’ website and it says this. So I am so confused. Can we literally send in a non-certified copy of a naturalization certificate?? ”You do not need to obtain a Certified True Copy if the U.S. government asks for a copy of your certificate for official U.S. government business. For example, if the U.S. Department of State requests your Certificate of Naturalization when you apply for a U.S. passport, you may use a normal photocopy that has not been authenticated. You may use a normal photocopy of your certificate for legitimate U.S. government business.” https://www.uscis.gov/tools/how-do-i-guides/us-citizens/how-do-i-obtain-an-authenticated-copy-of-a-certificate-of-naturalization

  6. Correct. But say they do schedule you for next day, at what point can you ask for certified copies? At the ceremony? With the officer at the interview?
  7. I read on here (VJ) somewhere, that at your interview you can ask for certified copies of your naturalization certificate. Did anyone do this?
  8. Thank you both for your replies! This is good to know!
  9. Hi! When applying for naturalization my husband wanted to change his name (he’s Latin so he has two last names. He wanted to drop one.) Now that his interview is scheduled and he’s had more time to think about it, he has decided he doesn’t want to change his name. Will this be an issue? Or can he just tell the officer at the interview he does not want to go through with the name change? Thanks!
  10. Got notice of interview being scheduled Filed online 2/9/2022 (via 5 year rule) Interview scheduled for 9/20/2022 (received notice 8/1/2022)
  11. Do you need your birth country passport for the interview? My husbands Colombian passport expired in May and the consulate in Orlando and Miami has no appointments until next year. He was able to snag an appointment at the Atlanta consulate for late August. So all he has right now is his expired passport and GC.
  12. When you see people who applied after you getting interviews it’s disheartening. Especially when they’re at offices that are quoted longer waits than our office. Disheartened but not stressed.
  13. Same. February 8th here and nothing. It’s so disheartening and discouraging.
