So on Friday I went back to SSA to re-apply for another SSN (yeah, again, yaaaaay). After I explained that it was the second time I was there and what happened the first time etc, they gave me the usual rude song and dance about how they needed to send off my documents to verify again at DHS. My taking Bee's last name is apparently a sign that I am a huge, stinky troublemaker

Anyway, I got this letter today, which makes me wonder that maybe there is a nice person up there looking out for me, after all:

This is a receipt to show that you applied for a Social Security card on December 7th 2007. You should have your card in about two weeks. [blah blah blah about working with authorization] If you do not receive your Social Security card within two weeks, please let us know.

So, I guess I got approved, huh?

You did too!!! Now you can go again in a couple of days to get the number - the card will come by snail mail
