Hi everyone,
I am really so worried right now. I had TB back in 2005 and took 6 months treatment. After that, My doctor cleared me already because it was healed but it left a scar on my right upper lobe

Sad to say, the scar wont go away. Now everytime I have xrays on my chest, doctors would find densities on my right chest and those are the scars. I know that I am cleared because everytime I have my annual check up from the company, they would have to do another view of xray (apicolordotic) then they would see those are scars not active viruses.
I am so so scared that when I have my medical exam at St. Lukes, they might ask me to do a sputum tests or what nots that would slow my visa process.
Thank you for your insights. I am so nervous.

Don't worry about it. You can change the fact that you've had TB or your x-rays. It may mean a few extra tests, but you've been treated so it should all turn out fine in the end.
Also, its my understanding that the point of having someone get tested for TB during the visa process is to make sure that you do not have active TB, TB that can be spread to other people.
Also, would it be possible for you to get a letter and copy of the xray from the doctor who treated, and cleared you in 2005? How about the results/letter from the last time you were cleared during your company's annual check up? That might help you out at the medical. You know the doctor might see your x-ray and then read the letters and xrays and see that they show the same thing that his/his xrays show and give you the all clear.

hi everyone,
today was suppose to be the day when I will get my results but they requested another chest xray and told me to come back again tommorow.
I know I am healed because 12/9. I just had another doctor looked at my chest xray and he said these are scars (healed TB) and gave me a medical certificate for this.
please pray for me that when I come back tomorrow everything will be alright, that what happened earlier was just a double checkup for them to make sure that I am safe and not suspect me of having TB.
Thanks!

We hope the best for you. You probably have already showed St. Lukes the medical certificate, but I would suggest taking it with you again on the return visit.

I had the same experience. I had TB in 2003 and my lung was scarred. Just bring in your old xray films so that the doctor can compare it with the new ones. I eventually got approved after they compared the xrays.

hello,
just to update everyone, I went to a private hospital and ask them to reexamine my xray results that I got on 12/9. The dates that they compared where from August 9, 2006 and December 9, 2007. The result came out that there were no unsual activity with the scars, it did not grew big or anything. This suggest that this is an inactive TB.
Just the same, St. luke required me to undergo a sputum exam next week but I had a private hospital also examine my sputum because it will only take 2 weeks for them to release the results (both smear and culture) compared to 2 months with St. Lukes so that I can be at rest and not dreading about the result. I think they also want to be sure that I have an inactive TB and not just rely on xray results which is understandable.
Thanks for all the prayers and for also continually praying for me.
Best,
Bluebelle

I am happy because I underwent the pulmonary evaluation and was told that I have negative results on my sputum for the smear exam. Good news!! NO TB

I just have to wait until mid feb for the results for culture exam. Please continually pray for me.
My own tests on Saint Lukes Main turns out that I am all negative on both smear and culture exam. I'm just waiting for the results at the extension clinic.
Thank God and I am still praying for his blessing regarding the culture results this mid feb.

At SLEC, they will do CXR to all applicants and if the CXR looks suspicious, then they will have to do sputum AFB exam (per protocol) to confirm or rule out PTB.

Hello Bluebelle.. I was a TB patient too way back in the Philippines.. The same thing they did to me.. Congratulations!
Be prepared because this TB issue is not done yet. You will have more follow up check-ups here.

So glad all of this information was posted. My fiance and our daughter went through the medical back in January. The little one was thought to have TB and they were to told to come back in mid-April, now after reading this I understand why. Hoping we have the same results as you did. Also, hope your interview turned out well.
