Asparagus is good roasted with olive oil, salt, and pepper and at the last minute I sometimes add a bit of parmasean.

i love roasted veggies. especially asparagus and cauliflower. i do it the same way, with a bit of olive oil or cooking spray, salt, pepper, and parmasean. yummm... i'll probably do that tonight. we also frequently roast peppers, cut them up, and saute with some olive oil, grated tomatoes, garlic, salt, and red and black pepper. that's yum too.

really the only way we both like vegetables is roasted or grilled. i like them steamed and he likes them boiled to death. if i make green beans for dinner i have to make them two different ways - steamed crisp for me and boiled mushy for him. bleh.

I really need to try to make more fish because we both love it, but i just never think to buy it when i'm at the market. I know i'd have to make that two different ways too... he loves this broiled tilapia i make with a creamy parmasean sauce on top... i'll have to dig into the depths of the cooking thread to find a good, healthy fish recipe. I'm sure there is one.

I've totally cut out soda and now have to taste for it at all. I'm trying to cut out bread and pasta... but I love both! blush.gif

We have been eating a lot of fish lately. When time is limited I cook filets in parchment paper pouches over vegetables so everything steams. It's easy, fast, and no clean up!

I really like halibut over fennel, peppers, olives etc.

I wish Ammar liked baked, broiled, or any other kind of meat* other than grilled. I feel bad like he's getting the same thing every day!

(oh, excuse me, I forgot-- chicken and fish are not meat. whistling.gif )

Hey thanks for reminding me of fish! We eat it so rarely but the husband does love it and ate it probably 3 times a week back home. Really good fresh fish isn't so easy to come by where I live. Maybe this warrants a trip to the fish market this week. I've gotta get out of this cooking rut I've been in lately.

my husband made the most awesome healthy fish this weekend. we like a whole fish head and tail on but you could do it with anything. he basically sauteed garlic, tomatoes, hot peppers, salt, pepper, parsley and lemon juice (no oil) together and then he baked the fish and poured the sauce on top. it was so delicious with no added oil. i think i need to pick up a fish tonight!

I eat the following pastas, one portion and I dont feel bad about it: Barilla plus (high protein and tastes the most like pasta), ezekiel pasta, and shirataki noodles (40 calories for the whole bag plus protein!)

Sounds delicious! My husband and I actually prefer whole fish (head and tails on). It's easier to determine freshness when fish are whole.

I've never tried the Ezekial pastas, but I have had their tortillas and bread. Are their pastas pretty good?

Well if you like ezekiel in place of regular bread then you might like the pasta in place of regular pasta. its not very pasta tasting but its good as a conduit for marinara. Barilla + is very close to regular pasta, I really like it and eat that more often. The shirataki noodles are amazing in terms of health but they are more ramen/asian like so I tend to eat those with a teeny bit of sesame oil, soysauce and sesame seeds for a soba noodle type dish.

I really like ramen/asian/udon/rice/anyofthose kinds of noodles so I am sure those would be nice! Barilla is something I am going to have to take a look for and see what I can find as well. Then it just comes down to portion control, that blasted self-monitoring.
