I know this woman, she is married to the US citizen for four years,
and they have a child together. When it came to removal of
conditions, he sent some papers, and she didn't hear back from
immigration for 1.6 years. Then we found out that there was a
deportation procedure towards her. He never showed her any papers,
and gave his office address for immigration as an address to send
everything to. Even when people are
trying to call her, he leaves them his mobile number and then
passes their messages or not, as he seems fit, or give her them to
listen on his voice mail.
She confronted him, and he was very upset. He said that he was busy,
and that the papers was lost, and that he would consult a lawyer.
He did nothing of these, plus told her never to pick up the phone
at home, or she will be deported.
He is always kind and nice to her, and to their child. He takes
them out every weekend, and they have everything, food, healthcare,
entertainment, but when it comes to the removal of conditions, or
doing anything to make her legal, he stops. She tried several more
times to make him do something, and once even threatened to tell
somebody, but he became very upset, told her that she wanted to put
him to prison, that he just made a mistake, and it would be
considered a felony, and so on. She was partly scared to be left
alone or deported, and partly sorry for him, for he was always a
very good husband and father.
Now what should she do? She was never abused or mistreated, she
submitted all the necessary papers for the removal of conditions,
and she ended as an illegal immigrant!
Please, offer some good advice.
And she is scared that someone will recognize her, or that he sees
her asking this on-line, that is why I am posting it for her.

She needs to consult with an immigration attorney. If she is removal procedures and has not missed the hearing it is quite possible that if she has evidence of a bona fide marriage that she could accomplish the final step in her adjustment before the IJ Immigration Judge. Furthermore, she can also naturalise which I suggest she does as soon as she has this other mess sorted out.
