Just a little update on our AP nightmare.... my senator's aide emailed us this pleasant news yesterday.

The administrative processing on Mr. xxxxx's immigrant visa case has been completed. He now needs to update his medical and police reports and mail them our office before we can issue his visa.

Once we receive the required medical and police report, we will process his case to conclusion.

I guess AP is finished, but his medical exam has expired. He's going tomorrow to talk to a Dr.
His passport is at the embassy & he has to present it to the doctor. What to do ? What to do ?

And who knows if they'll have to do more AP after we send that stuff in. Oh, well.... here goes another step.

Is this normal? I have never heard of this before. I mean you've only been in ap for like 6 or 7 months right? I have seen people in it longer than that who never had to redo these things. That's whacked!
monnik
Who knows, bridget.... It has been a year all together since his first physical.

It took them 5 months to schedule his interview, and then 7 months of AP = 1 year

His first exam was done Jan 15th of last year, so they just now reached the one year point. I don't know when they become outdated, but my husband is peeved that we have to jump through yet another hoop.

~~~water~~~
Im so sorry for yet another delay , just take it all in stride.....
Maybe the difference is that you are DCF??? I just don't know. Sam's physical is a year old and we have not had a request for new physical or police report, also no request as of yet for a movement certificate.
♥JP♥
I think I read somewhere that the physical is only valid for one year. The police reports are only supposed to valid for 3 months.
Ganja_Girl
This is the team that is working on my husband’s visa, so comforting to know they are all pitching in and helping.
monnik
That's a funny pic, ganja.
Yeah. Apparently, JP, they have both expired.
Becky, even though they didn't request a movement certificate (and i don't think my husband needs one anyway cuz i think it's only for people who are exempted from the army) he will request one when he gets his new police report.
That way, if they ask for it, they will get it !!
laughing.gif
Thanks , water. We are taking it in stride. It's just an inconvenience. It's not difficult. But, still, we have to get his passport from the embassy and redo (and repay for) his exams & x-rays plus the police stuff.
I hope to post some better news soon !!!
Cheryl & Medo
OMG blink.gif THIS IS JUST CRAZYNESS!!!!THEY TAKE THERE SWEET A$$ TIME AND THEN LET THINGS EXPIRE?
It took them 5 months to schedule Medo's interview, and then close to 1 year of AP mad.gif
And now maybe he will have to delay getting this stuff done over..
And they also have his passport.... And then maybe the time to get the MC? crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif
I can't take this anymore!!!
monnik
Cheryl, that is exactly how my husband feels about it. But, if it's not too expensive, you can get Medo to do it again and have it waiting in case they ask for it. But, who knows, because some people don't get asked for it even after a year..... I hope they don't ask you for it. **fingers crossed**
BTW, one of the dr's said he doesn't need the passport if Mina can bring his immunization record with the # on it, so we won't have to wait for that. And, he will go to the exam today at 3pm..... so, I hope we will get it taken care of quickly.
I hope your email is truely good news. Looking at the VJ timelines and the numbers...seems the home visits take place roughly 4-5 months after an interview...then about 2-4 months after a home visit the visa is issued..you are right in that time frame.....yes some wait longer..but on the whole..you are due....the averages are in your favor...good luck...its been a long time coming for you....
Thanks, Faith !!
Here is the mail that I got from the senator's aide......
Good to hear from you. Since the embassy just received the info a couple of weeks ago, it’s really in everyone’s best interest to wait a bit before we inquire. I don’t want to receive an answer from them simply acknowledging receipt and have to wait another 60 days before we can inquire again. I will send an inquiry sometime after the end of the month and before the middle of March. That way they will have had 45 days to move on the info they received
I didn't know that there was a time limit on the senatorial inquiries....
It seems like we take turns in the 'freaking out/getting depressed mood'. I guess now it's his turn and it's frustrating to see. I can now see clearly what he saw everytime my depression set in.
He wants me to go to Egypt now insha Allah. I've been putting it off (since ramadan) in case the visa came (so he wouldn't have to spend more than he should on tickets). I mean, my mind says the practical thing to do is wait a little more, but my heart is just not cooperating with the practical side anymore.
I feel like 'Cybil' these days and today my personality is that of one who has her eyes swollen from crying so much! I would love to go back to Egypt of course! But the thought of leaving again (cause I remember vividly the day I had to leave the first time) just won't go away.
Of course, I can always think that the embassy could issue the visa in the time I'm there, but then i would be the delusional 'Cybil', thinking that the incompetent way they've handled the case would miraculously go away.
There are many issues we're having because of this visa process. I won't go into them because I'm sure the visa would be issued before I finish writing them laughing.gif (ohh it seems like the 'trying to be funny Cybil' showed up)!
We are more in love than ever, and that's never been a question, it's just the silly things that seem so big when we're far away. Anyway, since he's having his moment, I can't say much to him other than emotional support and be strong for him, like he's done for me many times alhamdulillah. That's why I'm writing this here.
I'm so sorry to bother you guys with my problems, and it's not for pity wallahi, I just need to get it out before I go completely crazy, and you're the only ones who can really understand me. Please keep me in your prayers and may the visa come quickly for everyone before we all lose our minds.
Hugs to everyone,
Ayesha rose.gif
Never apologize for letting it out hon. That's why we're here. (((hugs))). You have shown such strength thus far and I admire you greatly for your good attitude throughout this whole process. I totally want to go in April but like you I don't want to in case the visa is issued by then but then I look at those who have been in ap for a year and I wonder if I should go. It's like a ping pong game in my head, you know?
Maybe look into refundable tickets? I believe Alitalia's are not too bad though others are just through the roof. That way you won't have to worry about canceling if the visa is issued inshallah. rose.gif
I just did a quick and easy search via alitalia and if I left on 4/19 and returned 4/28 it would be $1,225 per their promo rate. Switching to their "easy" rate would bump it to $1,280 and I could get a refund by paying an additional $200. Bumping it to "comfort" would be $1,562 with a rebate penalty of $150. Seems like the "easy" rate is the way to go to give you at least a little peace of mind. Just look at the additional $255 as the price you pay for going so close to getting your ap done with I guess.
Of course it's probably a LOT cheaper if I hadn't chosen April vacation but that is when I would go if I went. My biggest issue is leaving the kids. I think they've only just now gotten over my leaving the last time so I really don't want to rock their boat. *sigh*
I hear you (about the kids) , and yours are smaller, but I know what you mean. The only time I've been away from them was when I went to Egypt, cause I've always taken them with me where ever i go.
Are you checking the site of the airline directly? or is it through expedia, orbitz etc .
I totally want to go in April but like you I don't want to in case the visa is issued by then but then I look at those who have been in ap for a year and I wonder if I should go. It's like a ping pong game in my head, you know?
Maybe look into refundable tickets? I believe Alitalia's are not too bad though others are just through the roof. That way you won't have to worry about canceling if the visa is issued inshallah. rose.gif
Ohhhh I never thought about refundable tickets!! That's a great idea, I'll definitely check that out, thank youuu. Who knows? we might bump into each other while there biggrin.gif
I just did a quick and easy search via alitalia and if I left on 4/19 and returned 4/28 it would be $1,225 per their promo rate. Switching to their "easy" rate would bump it to $1,280 and I could get a refund by paying an additional $200. Bumping it to "comfort" would be $1,562 with a rebate penalty of $150. Seems like the "easy" rate is the way to go to give you at least a little peace of mind. Just look at the additional $255 as the price you pay for going so close to getting your ap done with I guess.
Of course it's probably a LOT cheaper if I hadn't chosen April vacation but that is when I would go if I went. My biggest issue is leaving the kids. I think they've only just now gotten over my leaving the last time so I really don't want to rock their boat. *sigh*
I hear you (about the kids) , and yours are smaller, but I know what you mean. The only time I've been away from them was when I went to Egypt, cause I've always taken them with me where ever i go.
Are you checking the site of the airline directly? or is it through expedia, orbitz etc .
The direct site. I'm not certain you can pick from the various types of fares that they offer via orbitz, etc. If you do go to one of those sites though I've found airgorilla.com is the best for fares to Cairo, especially the oneway fares from Cairo to the US. good.gif
