I hope your husband gets the job you're looking for! Did you settle on a state to focus on yet or just going alphabetically still? I vote for throwing a dart at a map myself!!!!

Well, I looked through the entire list of places he could teach in the past 3 days (Good Lord! probably about 2000? CA has 109 alone!) and trolled for anthropology full-time faculty positions. I came up with about 10 or so openings (not exactly sure, I printed out the openings and brought them home and I am at work now). So he'll just apply to all of them! As I remember, there were 3 in CA, 1 in GA, 1 in MO, 1 in NYC, 4 in AZ, 1 in FL, and 1 in IL. So I guess that's 12 openings from memory. We'll just put them in order of due-date and apply.
I am hoping he gets something, but you never know. On the one hand, he doesn't have American credentials and degrees or perfect English, so this will look bad. On the other hand, he does have 4 years of teaching experience at a University (where he taught in both English and Arabic), has publications, has at least one American professional reference, has done a lot of course development across the dicipline, and directed the physical anthropology lab... which looks good too in addition to the fact he's young. I know that last part doesn't seem important, but the older you get the less likely you are to be hired at many of these places... I know several people who have been trying hard and getting rejected in favor of people with less education and less experience.. but were younger. So it appears to be a factor, although of course age discrimination is illegal so you cannot say for sure
We were discussing the fact that if he can get a higher paying job we would like that since we're not only both paying on my student loans right now and that would make it go faster, but then we also plan on doing the kids thing and he (and I) would prefer for me to stay home with them-- so it is only logical to then base the majority of the income making responsibility on him.
no openings in boston? I would think they'd have at least one oppportunity since we have so many colleges here.
On a side note I have carpet cleaners cleaning two rooms, one overstuffed rocking chair and four dining room chairs and OMG are they LOUD!!

I really hope they can clean the carpets good 'cause if not I'll have to go with the ripping them up choice. I was going to do that originally but it just feels better knowing the girls have a cushy rug to step onto when they get out of bed, you know?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh and if anyone is thinking of getting FIOS do it!!! I LOVE it! I got verizon fios tv, phone and internet and I am one happy camper. It came with the dvr option too and I have NO IDEA how I ever lived without it!!!!! Now I can watch all the CSI's, Criminal Minds, House and Cold Case whenever I want too!!!!! I just hope that writer's strike ends SOON!!
I'm starting the Hero's series using Netflix since I never watched it last season. I hope it's as good as everyone says!
