Hi everyone! As always, hope everyone's journey is going well and everyone is in good health and enjoying the wonderful holiday season.

I have good news. My wife (the PR) is 7 months pregnant and we are trying to get her mother here from China for a visit and to be present for the birth. We have sent the invitation package.

We are preparing to make the appointment. I am trying to determine the best time to make the appointment at the US Embassy in Beijing. My wife called and the earliest is around Jan. 11 which is a Friday. If my mother-in-law goes there on a Friday, is it still possible to get the visa on the same day? Or would she have to wait until Monday to pick up the visa? She is applying for a visitor visa.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

hey there
i don't know what it is like in China but in Romania you get the immigration visa in the same day/or second day and you ARE coming back for the visitor visa on some other day. I hope it will work out for good
Congrats with your baby!!!!!!

It should say on the Consulate web site.

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find anything on the consulate website unfortunately.

I was hoping someone would have experience with this. How about a similar situation in a country other than China? Should I expect same day (like the K-1), one day later, or much later?

What makes this such a challenge is purchasing airfare in advance because tickets are typically thousands of dollars more to have a refundable feature.

Any experiences or knowledge on this is appreciated.

The link has been disabled, usually its a few days, but best not to make travel plans that can not be cancelled until you have it. Book the tickets after you have the visa, not before.
