Vermont has finally updated their processing time from June to July 19....
What does this mean to us...nothing probably except when you call the customer
service person will quote the new date to you....
"we are processing files up do July19..."

Hope some more approvals come through this weekend from those people that need overtime work!!!!!!!!!

good.gif good.gif good.gif
AnewKINDofFEELIN
That's good that they updated the processing time. Maybe they'll actually reach the processing times at some point in the future.

Thanks. I really still can't believe it finally happened. I really just wish everyone from May, June, and July would be approved already. It's a shame that the system can be so cruel to some people for no reason at all.

Please don't jump all over me if the question has already been answered somewhere:

Does the NVC give out information to the beneficiary if I call? Or only to the USC?
Jason-Sasha
Only the USC. sorry.

Hey are these figured on their NOA1 date or their received date...just curious....I know that VSC goes by the received date not the date they send
the NOA1 or the date you received the NOA1....

These are all pulled from the Timeline system based on the "I-129F NOA1" field, which I assume most people use the actual date from the NOA1 document and not the date that VSC physically received the petition. But honestly it comes down to what each person decides to enter when they are creating their timeline.

This is why I never go by the NOA1 date. It's just too random. I filed in September but didn't get my NOA1 until 6 weeks later. Other September filers got their NOA1's anywhere from a week to 10 weeks later. Unfortunately a lot of people are putting the "notice date" instead of the "received date." Even the instructions on the VJ Timeline update are wrong (IMHO), because the "notice date" has absolutely no bearing on the process.

The sent date seems to me to be the most reliable. This is a date that most people will be accurate about, so that when you see that someone sent their petition in on September 14, you can be confident that they are a "September filer." It breaks down a little for someone who sent their petition on October 29, (are they an "October filer" or a "November filer?") but since the concept of a <month>-filer is a VJ term anyway and not used by USCIS, it doesn't matter.

Ahh... now I understand how my stats sometimes seem to be 1 or 2 off from yours.

Do we have any confirmation on what date VSC actually uses? It would seem to me that they use the date on the NOA1 document. When I log on to the USCIS site, that's the date that is listed. Is this not true? For example, I mailed on 10/31, they received on 11/1, and my NOA1 is dated 11/2. (And I received it on I think 11/8 in the mail.) The date in my portfolio on the USCIS site is 11/2... the date on my NOA1 document.

Since this waiting list is all guess work anyway, I suppose it really doesn't matter as long as things are close. But now I'm curious. Maybe in a bit I'll change my program to use the sent date and compare it to how I generate it now. (It is only tweaking 2 lines of code.)

Anyway, interesting.

USCIS processes (roughly) by the Received Date, which is the first date listed on the I-797 (NOA1). The 2nd date on the NOA, the Notice Date, is the date they generated the NOA. When USCIS aren't backlogged, these two dates will be close or even the same. When they're backlogged, they can be wildly different. My Received Date was September 13, and my Notice Date was November 2, for example. And it took another 4 weeks for the letter to actually get to me.

The date you are seeing on CRIS is also a Notice Date, although it can be off a little bit from the Notice Date on your NOA. For example, the NOA date for my petition on CRIS is November 1, while the Received Date on my NOA1 is November 2. I don't know why these dates are different. One of those gubmit mysteries I guess. smile.gif

I was really hoping you'd receive your approval. It's stupid that you are still waiting. Actually, stupid isn't strong enough of a word for what it is.

The date in my portfolio on the USCIS site is 11/2... the date on my NOA1 document.

A couple of things to consider:
  1. USCIS uses the received date to determine the "age" of a petition.
  2. The received date is almost always a few days after the sent date. The only exception would be when delivery of the package to VSC took longer than a few days. This does not happen very often.
  3. The NOA1 date on the other hand can sometimes be delayed by weeks or even months without explanation. This seems to be more common than delivery of the package being delayed.
  4. VJ uses the sent date when calculating the projected date of adjudication.
  5. Members are entering their NOA1 dates on an inconsistent basis.
  6. The one date members remember and relate to is the date they put the petition in the mail or gave it to the delivery service. Psychologically, I think most of us began waiting for our approvals on the day we sent the package.
  7. I would wager that the accuracy of the sent date on the VJ timelines is extremely high and probably the most accurate of all the dates on the VJ timelines other than the interview date.
Because of all of the above, I think the sent date is the best date to use in your report.

By the way, great job on the open petition report! I think everyone enjoys seeing themselves climb up the list and also appreciates knowing if there are others who filed at the same time still waiting. Good work! smile.gif

PS: If I might make a suggestion, maybe you could add a last seen field for the older months and automatically delete those who have not been seen for a long time. That will allow everyone to evaluate for themselves the viability of the oldest open petitions.

When our congressman called VSC checking on our application they were told that it would be processed by the
date "received".....for us they are talking about them receiving our duplicate application that they received on July 24....
That is why we are not considered a May filer (in their eyes) because they(VSC) actually received the July application ahead of the one that was sent from CSC (our original application that was filed in May....that THEY sent to the wrong processing
center...that they transefered to VSC in October).

I looked at the stats again and you are right about June....it only change a few to go by received date but on July
when I pulled up sent dates versus NOA1 dates it made a big difference...infact I show 24 that are waiting that sent there
application in July....it was like someone else said, there was such a huge influx of applications that some NOA1's were very late
in being sent out...but VSC does not go by that....but by the date they received the applications which should make some
July filers feel better!!!!!!!!

Also everyone checking stats should remember to bracket the period they want to investigate. VJ excludes the beginning and ending search dates from the results. I always start a monthly search with the last day of the previous month and the 1st day of the month that follows. July's search dates should be June 30th to August 1st. If you search from the July 1 to July 31st you will lose 2 days of results.
AnewKINDofFEELIN
I had a NOA1 date of August 28th.

I called the first time, spoke to NVC, and they said it was dated August 8th.

Then I called and spoke to VSC through the RFE trick, and they told me it was received July 27th.

Seriously, they need to correct their methods of dating.

I actually did this on the from end of the July dates I put in June 28 (sent date) and that would make the received date a couple of
days later...

Okay guys, I need your thoughts

I jsut called the national number and talked to a very nice, but seriously dim, customer service rep. She asked me questions about other forms, made me repeat how to spell everything five times, and asked me for my zipcode at least six times. This was of no help, so I did what most people do when they're desperate.

They call the service center. Usually they're more helpful. Anyway, I talked to a nice guy, who said that at this point I could file for an expedite, since its been nearly eight months, and it was outside of processing.

He said dial the national number, 1,2,2,6,2 (no receipt number) and i could talk to a rep.

... this doesn't work.

Any tips or was he just bs'ing me to get me off the line? He assured me, however, that like it has been for the last two months, it was exactly where it needed to be for a decision.

Tips, suggestions? crying.gif crying.gif
charlene
I was told the same thing....I tried to call that number and it did not work either....I can't remember what I did, but I kept trying
different menu's and I finally got hold of a person who helped me get to someone to fill out an expedite form....
she said that due to my history that I could file as USC error...which I did and she then she told me that I would hear in
5 business days....I did hear in 2 days and was turned downed saying that I did not "qualify" for an expedited form"

I do not what else to do at this point....you can see our timeline for explanation of our process...

Nothing else to do but wait....although I would love to call but I know that I would probably just wind up being more frustrated.

Ok, I agree with the logic you all gave - it makes perfect sense that the sent date is probably the most accurate measure.

I also took the suggestion to use the "last seen" time for inactive profiles. If the I-129F sent date is at least 90 days ago, and it has been at least 60 days since they logged in, I now consider this profile inactive. These code changes were pretty small to make, but I could easily have messed something up in a new and exciting way... so reader beware. smile.gif Also, not all timelines have associated profiles, and some profiles mark their "last seen" time as private, so there are some that can't be evaluated this way.

So here is the list with these alterations.

Wow. That is a great job with the stats and open petitions report. Thanks! good.gif

I was struck by how many of the members with open May and June petitions are still active. I had asumed that most of those timelines had been abandoned. It is just incredible that people who filed then are still waiting while October petitions are being approved. wacko.gif
