I got it! The stupid machine wasn't working. In two different call I got two different messages! wacko.gif

I had to download the form and fax it because the automated system was not working. It sounds like you solved the problem but if you need the form you can download it here. Click on IRS Form 4506T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return) to get the form from the website.

Yes, the stupid system wasn't working but we finally solved it. Thanks Bill biggrin.gif

I finally gave in and called....useless.

"They're currently processing petitions dated June 11"
"But that information is completely inaccurate."
"I'm sorry, sir. That's all the information that we currently have."
"Is there any way I could speak to someone that is actually AT the Vermont Service Center?"
"No, sir, but you can go on our website and set up an appointment at the local office nearest to you. You'll need to.........."

Seriously, the people at the call desk are liars. They know they are lying, but they keep on doing it as their supervisors stand over them with a pistol and a mop.

RFE is a "Request For Evidence." The service center will typically send this notice to you if they want you to provide a document that you didn't originally provide in your packet, or if you forgot to sign something.

That is really classic. At least they could parrot the date on the website .. maybe they get points for creativity
It's funny after I call I'm disgusted and think I'll never call again, then time goes by and hope seeps in that they can't all be that clueless for a living ... oops
It's like dealing with management at my job devil.gif

Seriously, she seemed nice enough, but I kind of imagined her having really creepy eyes.

I asked if she could at least confirm that my petition still exists. She said it does...and they are still processing it.

VSC is approving petitions at a good rate, but its so unfortunate that they are bouncing all over the place. Why cant they just focus all their attention on the earlier filers?? mad.gif Crazy!!

You would think that a supervisor could go to every adjudicator's desk and make sure they don't have old files. If they do, take them away and give them to the persons who actually approve petitions with regularity. That would be if their supervisors were competent.

WOW....my family applied for passports and we were told it would take 3-6 weeks....which was a major improvement over the 3-5 months it was taking
a couple of months ago....well....they got them in 15 days!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess that part of the immigration department made fast improvements...
I know that they hired thousands of people and opened a new center in New Orleans.

I read that article the other day about the improvements that they plan to make in hiring more people for the USCIS. Hopefully they will make
these improvements quickly....the article did they say they had rehired about 500 people who had worked in the past....maybe this will help us out.
One can only hope!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem for the May, June, and July filers is that they can hire 1000 new people, but their applications will still be on the desk of the same *slow* adjudicators.

Passports are not issued by the USCIS, they are issued by the DOS, which I am finding is MUCH faster, friendlier, and competent than the USCIS bunch.

do you call national customer service line or use the RFE trick?

Also, I don't know how frequently or infrequently you call, but I would advise writing down the officer you talk to and what they say, every time. if you have to take it to a congress person or the ombudsman in the future, it'll be good to have that detail.
