MEDICAL EXAM EXPEREINCE: -

Hi,

As I had planned to get my Medical Exam done, I made a phone booking for my appointment 4 days before. I got the appointment of 7.30 AM & a booking number. I reached the CST station and got a cab to go the Breach Candy hospital (as I was late … which I found later I wasn’t)…. I rushed to the hospital at exactly 7.35 am… I headed straight to reception & I was asked my booking No., which I said and I was directed straight to the Annex building which is specially for US visa applicants. In the entrance there is the complete information in English & Gujarati Language about the fees, details of medical exam and cost for each test, which I found very good. There is a sitting area to wait for around 20 people in the outside the annex building, the seats were pretty clean. I waited there outside the building and it opened in a few minutes. By 7.50 am I was inside and was asked to remove my passport, original interview letter and told to sit down on the seat. I was called upon and filled out a form of the hospital entering all my details. (Please carry a pen … there are no book stalls outside to buy one in the morning….)…. Basically the staff only interacts with the person who has to medical exam & doesn’t entertain relatives or friends together. They give the instruction of what to do, how to fill forms in 3 languages very very fast…. English, Hindi, Gujarati, which is pretty difficult to grasp if you are nervous …LOL.

I filled out my form, showed my Original interview Letter which was stamped by the hospital person. Then I paid the fees of Rs.2000, I was asked about any medical history and stuff. Please carry reports of your previous medical history if you have any. Please do not wear any kind of ornaments or even a watch; you will have to remove it later. You will then get a receipt of fees paid and also with it a bar-coded stickers which the hospital uses for their files and tests.

Following are the test’s, which will happen: -

Blood Test
X- Ray
Weight & Height

Then you will be sent to have some breakfast and be back by 10.30 am. I went to the hospital canteen and you can get nice south Indian food. After I was back I paid the fee of around Rs.200 for my immunization & submitted my 3 US visa Size photos with my name written behind them. The following tests will happen then. Males go the main building while women have it in the annex building.

Immunization
Physical Checkup by the Doctor.

The medical exam is done and you will have to collect the reports around 3 pm to 4 pm in the evening depending on the hospital staff. I hope this is helpful to friends in future.

God Bless You.

Hi! Thanks for the info. Did the doc ask for proof of any vaccines which we have taken as kids coz I don't have any proof... Which immunizations did the doc give you?
I have the PCC from the regional passport office is that enough or do we have to take another from the local police station? I have notarized all the certs, do we have to GID all the docs from the local secretariat.
Just another step and you will join your wife.... aren't u excited????
TIA

hi Tia,

Please RUN to the LOCAL police commissioner's office or your local police station if your in Mumbai Suburbs to get your POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE. its ESSENTAL.

Its okay if you dont have the medical record of immunizations we take while being a child. The docs know which we take. The immunizations which we take depend on person to person. I dont know which i was given, but I was given 2 shots for sure. I was so nervous ... lol... tht i didnt even ask them. I guess it is inside the medical report. They have told me NOT To open the medical report and not to fold it. I hope it helps you Tia.

GOd bless

Hey Jigi! I am going thru the US embassy in madras(chennai). It clearly states on the site if your passport was issued within the last 6 months then you just need the PCC from the regional passport office. I got my passport on 19th Nov and my interview is expected by 15th Feb (if things go smoothly). But to be on the safer side I will take the one from the commissioner's office too, coz you never know when they change the rules. Anyways thanks
By the way TIA = Thanks In Advance
anyways I like my new name TIA smile.gif
