Full Version: Potentially Silly Question about Actual 751 Application

When completing the I-751 application, can you leave blanks or should you fill in every space, even those that do not apply, with N/A or NONE. For example, the section where you would list children does not apply to us, as we have none. Should we leave it blank or simply list NONE?

I realize this may be a dumb question, but I ask because I seem to remember when we were working on our Fiance Visa and our AOS paperwork, our lawyer had told us to fill in every single blank. We're not using a lawyer this time around, and I'd hate to have our stuff sent back because we completed the application incorrectly. I didn't see anything that addressed this on the instructions for filling out the form.

Again, sorry for the dumb question, thank you for always humoring me!

Yes, some with N/A ir NONE. I think some post here they have all the detail how to fill I751 form. I always follows them so, I just got my 10 GC here.

N/A means NOT APPLICABLE, Example: A# and you are US Citizen by Birth.

None means it can apply but not in your situation. Example: You live in a normal home not an apartment, so Apartment Number is "NONE"

I understand what they mean. My question is whether or not I can leave spaces where these things would apply blank or if I should fill in every single space on the application. For example, the part where they ask you to list children. As neither of us have children, should we leave it blank, or is it necessary to fill in "NONE."

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll try to look for examples of completed forms on the forum here.

You simply put NONE , don't leave blank space unless specified!

Take care and good luck!

The general rule is, don't give them any room to misunderstand or to think you forgot, or worse yet, to think you're hiding something. Usually this means don't leave any blanks.

If it's reasonable to answer something with "none", then use "none" instead of "n/a".

Sometimes, a brief explanation as to why you're not answering something can be more clear than simply n/a or none. For example, you could write "Neither of us has any children." where it asks about children. For this question, that's probably overkill and unnecessary, but at least the person who reads that will have no doubt about what you meant.

One more dumb questions- is it necessary to put N/A or NONE in Section 7 for the Attorney (obviously we don't have one). The example form on the forums left it completely blank.

Thank you!
