John and Marlene - wow quick post - have a question but sure it has been posted many times before-

Married but husband overseas no SSN - do i file married seperately or do I go through the single route - I am not messing up at this point. ((I am the USC fyi and just file federal no state here in Florida)

If I do filed married seperately as I recall they want souse name and SSN? YES?? Heck i hate tax time. Another area that I totally hate devil.gif

Cheers

Susie

You are married, so you cannot file single. You can file married separate or married joint (even if he doesn't live in the US).

You can file married joint - married filing separately is the worst way to file from a tax standpoint smile.gif

I have a question along the same lines....

My husband applied for his EAD 11/25/2007 we got the noa last week.... can we go down and get his ssn and have it not for work on it, then when we get the EAD we can go back and have it changed?

Also I bought my three yr old step daughter here... can I file for a card for her too?

If your spouse or child does not have a SSN you can complete a form W-7 to get a ITIN so you can include them on your tax return....
