It is pretty common/customary to change the middle name and the last name of the wife in East Indian cultures.
The wife takes the husband's first name as her middle name.
The wife takes the husbands' last name as her last name also.
And that is what we did, when we applied for AOS for my wife, we filled out the paperwork with the new middle and last names and sent it to Chicago.
Now, as far as I know all the NOAs that we receive show the full name (last, first, middle).
However we received the NOAs with no middle name. Only the first name and the new last name are shown on the NOAs.
Her passport still shows her maiden name... should we have gotten her name changed in the passport first and then applied with the new name for AOS ? The indian consulate does provide this service of changing the middle and last names based upon the marrigae certificate. ( I just got to know of this )
I'm worried...can anyone shed some light here please.
