Yep, because every time I go to a new doctor, they ask for my number, and I can't remember it for the life of me.

I don't even know where mine is. It is in one of our security boxes around here somewhere. Heck, that card is older than dirt

SSA recommends you memorize the number and to not carry the card, way too easy to become a victim of identity theft if card is lost.

We don't carry our SS card around.
I've memorized mine but haven't memorized my son's yet.

True SS recommends you don't carry your card, however it seems like anything you do requires your SS card, so I just keep it with me altho I don't like to carry it.

I carry mine at the moment because I've not yet memorised the number. Although I've just typed this and remembered that I DO now know it (said it correctly in my head, just now!). So I guess I'd better put it somewhere safe now.

Nope, I memorized the number a long time ago - not even sure exactly where the card is, probably in a drawer with the rest of my papers. I usually only carry my NY State ID.

lol. I meant boring story. I had it in my wallet for an I-9 and ... just forgot to put it back when done.
I also may have lost my wifes 1 yr green card extension I-797. I haven't told her yet, still looking for it.

No way. I'm the USC and I have never carried it with me.
My husband doesn't carry his with him either - or his EAD.
Neither he nor I can yet remember exactly his SSN but we will....

I can't think of the last time I used mine. When filling out that form for work documentation (W9?) I always use my passport, which is in category A. I don't even know where the original SS card is...and neither does my mother. Only reason I have one now is because I changed my name after marriage.
Hubby doesn't carry his either, although I made him put in in his cell phone.

Ive lost mine in one of my many moves, so Im waiting until I change to my married name to get another, since I think SSA only allows you so many replacements in a lifetime and Im frickin lazy. Hubster doesnt carry his, since he doesnt have one yet. At this rate its a contest to see who's going to get their first, hubby or baby. My vote is baby.

I do but only because I got a replacement card in the mail as I was heading out somewhere, so I put it in my wallet so I wouldn't lose it....
But I've had the number memorized for years, and P already has a SSC and knows his number too.

I memorized my SSN a couple days after i got it, much safer not to carry it around with you. Hubby (USC) doesnt carry his neither.

When I received my card, it said on the accompanied letter I was not to carry it with me. I then memorized it, and put it in a locked cash box at home here.

I carry mine. I almost never leave the house except to go to my fake job on Thursday mornings. I haven't managed to acquire a paid job since getting the EAD, although I have begun applying.
I used to carry my SIN card when I was in Canada, too. Can't remember what prompted that. I do remember that from the time I was 16 until the time I was about 36, my mother had the card. Don't remember why she gave it back to me.
Yes, I read that I shouldn't carry the flimsy little SSC.
Yes, I memorised the number within about 6 or 7 seconds.
(familiar area code - repeated digit - nearly my mother's 'phone number---really easy)
Despite an affinity for memorising sets of numbers, I still feel that I might not know it if asked.
