Hi.

I'm a new filer so I'll have a long wait before my medical exam.

The thing I'm worried about is that i have a history of high blood pressure for which i am on medication.

I'm also just a tad overweight although it doesn't show and most people dont believe me when i tell them.

Will either of these factors be a problem for me?

I mean i can do something about the extra weight from now on but the high blood pressure is something i may have to live with although the medication will help.

I'm so worried already and i doubt my interview will be until at least September 2008.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I think you should be fine, while I do not have any experience that directly relates to your specific question, I am sure that others will be along that do.

But from what I have understood the main concern with the medical is whether or not you have any serious health issues that may have a direct effect on others...... infectious disease, mental disorders that could result in harm to yourself or others; or an otherwise debilitating condition that would cause you to be dependant on public assistance.

My fiance is a bit overweight himself....it never occured to me that it might be an issue with the medical!
I not worried about it though, I am sure it will be fine.

Below are two links, one to the embassys medical page the other is a link to The VJ gallery where they have scans of packet 4 and the medical forms....incase that is helpful to anyone.

Those factors definitely won't result in failure of the exam. There are only a few, extreme things that would come up at the medical that would result in a ban or need for a wavier. If haven't used illegal drugs, hurt yourself or others, or have any dangerous communicable diseases, don't sweat it!! I have heard that the doctors may sometimes comment on blood pressure or weight issues, but don't let it worry you - it won't result in a failure of the exam. smile.gif
