Just a quick ? on filing to remove conditions. Is the biometrics fee to be included in the same check as the filing fee, or do they have to be written in two different checks.

You can write just 1 check.

You can do as you wish - one check, two checks - doesn't matter, as long as the total sum is the correct filing fee.
