I called DOS this morning and was told of the interview date...The American consulate hasn't responded to my email yet.

Interview is scheduled for early Jan.

Anyone having interview around the same date?

What we gave to the VFS Office:

1. DS-156 (2 copies with 2 photos)
2. DS-156K
3. DS-230 Biographic info (Part 1 AND Part 2)
4. Medical Report
5. Passport copies (both mine & his)
6. Birth Certificate (his)
7. Police Certificates
8. I-134 Affidavit of Support (plus tax returns 2006/letter from employer/paystubs for 6 months/letter from bank/bank statements for 6 months)
9. Evidence of Relationship (emails, photos, phone chats, yahoo chats, old snail mail letters)
10. Statement of Intent


What I sent to India:

Statement of Intent, copies of my birth certificate, passport, visa extensions (for when I stayed in India), plane ticket & boarding pass stubs, money exchange certificates while in India and hotel receipts, I-134 Affidavit of Support with letter from my employer plus 6 months pay stubs, letter from bank with 6 months bank statements, tax returns, explanation letter on why 2006 was the first year I ever filed taxes (was in India not earning any money before then), photos of us together in India, copies of emails to eachother (including inbox table of contents printouts), copies & origionals & translations of our old snail mails, copies of phone card and phone statements.

I noticed one difference..Am not sending the DS-230 Biographic info (Part 2), that seems for folks intending on migrating as immigrants and not potential immigrants..

Yes, DS230 is not needed for K1 applicants. But hubby gave it just in case. I was surprised it was not refused but they accepted it anyway!

Thanks we had a good Thanksgiving. Me being a veggie I just pigged out on mashed potatoes and pecan/pumpkin pies at the office potluck. At home we made a nice big pot of biryani - we love Indian food best!

Am using this thread to post my updates.

My fiancee just had her medical done yesterday in Chennai.
She had her appointment at 7.30am and she had her blood drawn and chest x-ray done.
At around 4pm she met the doctor and was handed the medical report.

she will be submitting the documents to the VFS office tomorrow....

VFS update.

8.15am: My fiancee drops by the VFS office and she was asked to present a copy of the interview letter(sent by the consulate)

Later one, she is asked to submit photocopies of all the documents mentioned on the interview letter and other original documents such as I-134, Birth Certificate(hers), employment letter, medical report..etc.

The person took a good 30 minutes to go through all the documents and verified them.
She was asked if she was married? She said No and that she was applying for a K-1 visa.

Once her passport was verified, she paid Rs365(in cash) and was given a slip(note) that shows the list of documents that were received by the VFS office.
