In order to accumulate miles (and after several trips, at least I can have a flight for free) I started flying with the same Airline Company when I go back to my country on vacation, so I had to register myself with my "maiden" last name since my flight ticket must match with my italian passport that indicates my "maiden" last name (not the married one), therefore my question is:
if I travel within USA is it ok, although I have a green card & an US I.D., to travel with my italian passport in order anyway to accumulate miles even when I travel within USA? Or at the airport they might ask me why I travel around USA with my italian passport instead of using the US I.D.?

I hope my question is clear!!!!! Has anynone traveled within US with the passport of their own country instead of using the US I.D. in order to accumulate miles? I also hope I wrote my topic in the right section, if not sorry about that..........blush.gif

Thanks to all who might give me a reply!!!!!

Why not just get your passport updated......

cant see any reason why you cant use your foreign passport as ID to travel... but your greencard and a copy of your marriage certificate would work too.... or just get your passport sorted out that way you can use the same name on everything....

Travel within the country they'd likely want to see both your passport and your green card anyhow, so I don't think it matters.

I have never used my UK passport when traveling inside the US I fly at least once a week with my job and all I use is my MA Drivers Licence.. never have been asked for my greencard or my passport....

I always have my Greencard with me but I never carry my passport...

so no you do not need your Passport to travel inside the US unless you do not have any other form of photo ID...

Hi Daphne. Yes, it's okay to travel within the US using your Italian passport and maiden name. I do it all the time for the same reason. My passport is in my former name, and so is my frequent flyer plan. My passport is not due to be renewed for another two years so, until then, I will continue to book flights in my former name. Once I receive my new passport with my new married name, I will change my rewards plan name also.

Krikit thanks alot, for reassuring me since you travel alot. Even when my italian passport will expire it will always appear my "maiden" name not matter even if I married, only if I decide in a couple of years to become US citizen and to get the US passport too, then I might change my rewars plan into my married lastname.

And of course thanks to all of you guys who replied to me too, now I feel much better. Thanks!!!!
