Tam...

I don't know how long it takes from Alex but from Cairo it's usually ready 10-14 days after applying. Has your husband been back to the office or is he just calling to check on it?
TamaraLovesAdam
his cousin is in cairo and was checking on it for him... and they keep telling his cousin its not there yet sad.gif

kara, where is it coming from? who is doing this paper??? its making my husband sad bcz its taking so long ... he went to cairo on Sept 11... the day after I left Egypt
moody
Honestly I don't know who exactly is issuing this paper or if it's sent out or not. My husband said that when he went to apply for his there were ppl applying for other countries and for the US. The ppl applying for other countries got theirs back the next day. The ppl applying for the US were told it will take 15 days to complete. He wasn't given an explanation to why it takes longer for those traveling to the US. I really don't understand why it's taking 3 weeks. They told my husband 15 days but it was finished in 10. Do you think maybe it's taking longer because he applied for it at both places?

Sorry it's taking so long, Tam. Hopefully, the paper will come in soon.

I keep thinking of GnR's song, Patience. yeaaaaaaaaaaaa-eaaaaaaaa Just a lil patience

laughing.gif

God's way of answering the prayer for more patience, experience, hope, and love often is to put him into the furnace of affliction.

Now, we should have a Yalla passport office! thread. heheheee
The embassy, the passport office, the ministry of foreign affairs, the ministry of justice; they all need a fire lit under their buttocks!!!! laughing.gif ranting33va.gif

well there is another guy on here who has been waiting 3 weeks too... so at least i know its not just my husband...
maybe this time of year its taking longer? hmmm
wael253
Tamara...do you think there might be a conflict between Alex and Cairo as perhaps one thinks the other is
taking care of the MC?

Here is what Wael thinks: at any immigration office they have the person in charge of that particular office
and usually he is a higher ranked police officer....

Would be a good idea if Adam goes directly to his office and explains the whole situation to him politely..

Wael has had to do this before with other paperwork at the immigration office and it always worked for him....

Good luck and let us know how it went...
TamaraLovesAdam
crying.gif Its been 4 weeks yesterday and he still didnt get the Movement Certificate... another guy on here waited for 4 weeks and just got his today... WHY IS IT TAKING SOOOOO LONG FOR THIS MOVEMENT CERTIFICATE?????

Moody? or anyone else that had to get a MC paper... what to do what to do!!! ??? Can we ask the Embassy anything about it ? Can he reapply? Can he go to a police office and ask??? Is there ANY WAY possible that they WONT give him one??? He never travelled before but his dad did
Why did it take one guy 2 weeks, another guy 3 weeks, another guy 4 weeks and we still waiting for ours !!!

I AM VERY EMOTIONALLY UPSET TODAY ! crying.gif

Hey Tam,
Sitting here talking with Wael he said...Adam must go himself to the director of the Immigration here in Alexandria and explain to him that he requested two movement cerificates, one from Alex and one from Cairo, and ask his advice for the delay in MC issuance.

Wael has done this when he has had to renew his passport, change his profession, Army stamp on his passport and getting my resident visa stamp last year. This is the most effective way to find out by GOING DIRECTLY TO SEE THE DIRECTOR and talk to him.

We hope this will help Adam and good luck to you both...

Jeanne and Wael gave great advice. The embassy doesn't have anything to do with getting this cert. other than requesting it. Has Adam ever gone himself to check on it or does he just call?
SandyNJack
Is everyone required to get this certificate? If so can you start the process before you have the visa?

Not everyone is required and if you start the process before the visa it is very likely that they'll have you do it again since realistically it could state he never went anywhere but then he could have gone somewhere after you give it to them during the visa process.
monnik
I am sorry Tam that you are having a rough time.. crying.gif ... worrying about the certificate will bring you down.

But, I feel like the other guy getting his MC is a good sign. Maybe all Adam has to do is go down and talk with someone and they will issue it to him. Take Wael's advice. It can't hurt to try!

GOOD LUCK!!! I hope that he gets it NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, have your husband go & ask in person.

I hope he gets the MC soon and that your visa is issued soon as well.

Good luck 2 you 2 and 2 everyone waiting.

OK now tomorrow will be 5 weeks of waiting for Movement Ceritificate.... this is getting RIDICULOUS mad.gif
they told him at the office thats its depending on the persons name... how many times do i gotta hear this... the embassy, the security checks and now the MC paper office... 5+weeks is ridiculous!!! mad.gif
TamaraLovesAdam
Well, my husband will be getting his MC paper on Monday or Tuesday...

AND we found out whyyy it took soooooo long to get it! The *top* cop went to do the pilgrimage to mecca during the month of ramadan and looks like NO one took over his job of finalizing the MC papers from Cairo... which made us therefore wait 6 weeks for the MC paper which the embassy wants ... too bad there is no way to protest or anyone to complain to.... so while he is enjoying his 6 weeks... hes been keeping my husband and I very STRESSED about the UNKNOWN and keeping the embassy waiting for our MCpaper and passport... i hope he asked for forgiveness for majorly inconviencing people & not putting someone in his place while he was on vacation...

yah im just a lil bit mad about this situation I'd say...

normally Im good with life and dont let the little things bother me... but this whole year of government process and all the *lil things to wait on has really hit some of my nerves...

Hey Tam well thank God you and Adam are finaly gona get that MC. And it dont sound like it will be long till you have your hubby with you. Hang in there it is just a little bit longer

That's the thing I learned about Cairo. They tell you something will be done in April then the day comes and they tell you a day in May. Then the day comes in May. Then they tell you a day in June. Then the day in June comes and they tell you a day in July. Then the day in July comes. Then they tell you September.

The day in September comes and you get the run around for the day and they say come back next weekend. Then next weekend its the same thing. Then you do it again two more times after that and they give you a day in Oct. So you wait till that day in Oct and they tell you oh sorry Ramadan...come in 20 days. So now you have a day in Nov. you are waiting for that all started back in APRIL!!!! ARGH!!!!!

Tam first i'm sorry that you still waiting for the MC . BUT
- remember when i talked to Adam on the phone and asked to go and meet the director officer in charge of the immigration office here in Alex , talk to him in person and explain his situation .. i believe he DID NOT .
- while i feel sorry for your situation Tam , let me assure you that the story that you said about not having anyone in charge of the immigrant office for almost three weeks could NEVER be TRUE .. when the director officer has to leave the office for a couple of hours i promise you someone else would be in charge .
- and Olivia maybe right about how Cairo is in so many things BUT when it comes to the immigration offices i would say NO ... by the way , believe it or not .. here in Egypt if someone has applied for a new passport he gets it the same day ! that doesn't happen anywhere in the world that i know of .
- also in one of your posts you said it depends on the person's name and it might take longer because his name is Ahmed , but you have to remember that Ahmed and Mohamed and ..... etc may get hit in the FBI security checks or something like that BUT here in Egypt 70% of men are either Ahmed or Mohamed so i would doubt that he is having any trouble here in Egypt because of his name .. well in other words he could have had a name hit in Egypt if his name was Tom , Dick OR Harry !
i hope he will get his MC soon...good luck

ok , to make it clear why i mentioned the passport thing .....
- ( The Immigration And Passport Department ) that's the name of the office where he is suppose to get his MC , it's the same place where you get your passport , very well organized place .. it's also the same place where you ( Monnik ) got your Resident Visa Stamp .. i bet didn't take your husband more than couple of days to get it .
- unfortunately Cairo has nothing to do with ( London,Usa, ....etc ) Visas .. that's why me and your husband and many others are still stuck in here .. BUT i believe that no one of you Americans had any kind of problems getting the Egyptian Visa whether in the POE or for Residency !
- i'm not defending how some of the Egyptian department are managed or how some works in Cairo are done .. i'm just trying to help Tam with her situation and i think the first step to help somebody is to tell the truth even if you know that it's not what they want to hear !

Ok but I read it differently. Just wanted him to clarify because otherwise I have no idea what he's getting at.
monnik
Yes. It only took one day to get my residency stamp. (Even though the office was crowded like craaaaaaaazy... my husband was jumping in front of people & shoving my passport through the window. Maybe they are organized internally, but it's not very organized from an outsider's perspective. There was no organization, no system, no lines; it was chaos.)

Yes. It only took my husband one day to get his passport renewed. He tipped the officer extra and he got it back later in the afternoon.

I know exactly what you mean. I know you are in the same boat as we are. I am not arguing, I promise. wink.gif

My point, and the reason for my joke laughing.gif was this: travelling is the hard part. What difference does it make if you have your passport or not? You can't travel. Maybe to Cyprus, KSA, Kuwait, or travel with the army.

You are saying: **The visa office is a different system.** I know this. But, when the embassy is depending on important papers (MC, etc.) from different ministries within Egypt, and everyone takes their sweet time (for example, by letting people jump in line LIKE MY HUSBAND DID or when people who TIP & PAY can get their papers/passport sooner than the ones who came before them!! Or when you have to speak to the #1 officer and he takes personal responsibility for getting your paper finished, and then goes out of the country... it happens all the time! even inside the embassy, people go on vacation & leave cases sitting on their desks. Why would anyone else touch their work? They are busy enough as it is!) then, they are not being very efficient. Especially when there are millions of people who are applying for the same thing.

I really don't know where the ball got dropped with Tamara's Movement Certificate. It's so hard to tell what is going on. But, I know it shouldn't have taken this long..... especially if the office is so "organized" . And, each and every person shouldn't have to speak with the head officer in order to get something done. It should flow smoother than that; but it didn't. So, that's why my opinion is: the delays are unnecessary & obtaining the passport in one day is useless because you can't travel that fast anyway!

Happy Anniversary , you guys!!! So glad that you are spending it together! Lucky ducks.

VERY well spoken Nicky girl ! I like ur style of writing!
monnik
Oh really? laughing.gif You are funny.

I am not trying to be confrontational, I swear. I just feel like if one department or ministry in Egypt is slow or confused, then the WHOLE visa process suffers. You can't say that the Immigration & Passport office is organized (because they can process a passport in a day), when your MC proves that it's not. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

And all the while, the embassy can't move forward until it is done! But, guess what?? It doesn't matter how slow they are. Even after they have the MC in hand, the embassy will be just as slow & inefficient as the Egyptian offices! Because the whole system is broken. Not just one wheel.

So, bottom line, Tam: I don't know where to place the blame for this problem. (I don't believe it's Adam's fault, though) I don't even know what to say to help you out. .... refile maybe? People have filed more than once for a MC... for example, if the embassy requests another one because the first one is outdated. Try that, maybe.

You are in a tough situation. Who knows if you refile or make a 2nd request if the system will jam up even more...... but if you don't try to file or find a solution, you will just be waiting around for them to magically fix everything. blink.gif

Good luck in whatever you choose. Would it help if I went down to the Cairo office and stomped & waved around my little blue passport??? heheheeeeeee smile.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

They would probably wish me a nice day & then take Mina into custody!! heheeeee
wael253
Monnik, i didn't say that you are arguing as i understand your feeling about being stuck here in Cairo with the frustrating routine .....
i'm trying to clarify some facts by telling the truth ( i'm not stretching it for someone to feel good about it ) .... so let me start with
- once again let me say it's not Cairo's fault why people are stuck without a Visa .
- going to number #1 officer is ONLY when something goes wrong NOT every time you obtain something from the immigration office .. and i suggested that to Adam coz it took him so long to get the MC and it sounded like something was wrong .
- the immigration and passport department is considered ( National Security ) matter here in Egypt ... that's why the guy who renewed your husband passport was ( Home Land Security Officer ) do you know what that means Monnik ? it means you can NOT TIP them ... did you really see him doing that ?
_ please Monnik don't get me wrong but anyway ( people can't leave the country , or the embassy taking a vacation , or tipping people to get your stuff sooner (not in the immigration office ) , or............. etc ) is not the case here coz the case here is helping someone to get a MC .

Doodle, while i hate to say it BUT you almost had it when you asked your question .

Tam, plz don't misunderstand my intention ... but it was difficult to believe the stories about why he is having delay getting his MC (once because it depends on the person name , once because it depends on the embassy itself , once because the director officer was off for 2 weeks )

i just wanted to help Tam , wish he gets it today , Good Luck
TamaraLovesAdam
then Wael, why would it take another guy on here 4 weeks to get his MC paper ??? obviously someone else had to wait more than the standard 15 days that the website says... Adam is not the only guy waiting...
2nd thing we was told that its done and being sent to the Cairo office ... and Cairo mail is slow... so I assume sometime this week he should be getting it

I have to disagree. I had an appt with my congressman yesterday and the woman who handles immigration stated that the embassy in Cairo is very very understaffed. She didn't strike me as the type to candycoat something, i.e. tell me that they're understaffed as opposed to stating that there's something wrong with my case, so I have no reason not to believe her.

Again I disagree. My husband most definitely tipped them to get his passport in one day. Also when I was there in December I had to get a stamp on my passport in addition to the stamp that I received in the airport so that we could get married. I went with my husband's friend since my husband was off getting his id (this was such a romantic wedding what with all the running around and such laughing.gif ) and his friend had to also tip them to get the stamp done quickly so that we could get out of there and make it back to the ministry of justice before they closed for Eid. I saw the money pass hands. Had he not tipped them to move us up in front of the line we would not have been able to get married because the ministry of justice, which we also had to bribe, would have been closed.

Doodle, while i hate to say it BUT you almost had it when you asked your question .

I think it was pretty obvious what you were getting at, but I think the more tactful approach would have been to state this along with any other doubts you may have obtained from speaking to Adam via a pm to Tamara instead of putting it on here. I myself would be ticked off and embarassed were it me.

Anyone claiming to know the ins and outs of everything that happens with the Egyptian bureaucracy is ludicrous. These things have no real rhyme or reason as I saw firsthand when I was there. And Wael just because Adam did not take you up on your offer for help getting the movement certificate does not mean that he has some nefarious motive. Maybe he just thought you did not know what you were talking about and or wanted to take a different course of action. You seem to be overly-concerned with Tamara's marriage and you may want to concentrate on your own. I find your whole post tacky.

then Wael, why would it take another guy on here 4 weeks to get his MC paper ??? obviously someone else had to wait more than the standard 15 days that the website says... Adam is not the only guy waiting...
2nd thing we was told that its done and being sent to the Cairo office ... and Cairo mail is slow... so I assume sometime this week he should be getting it

Tam i'm so sorry if anything i have said sounded offensive to you in anyway , again that was not my intention ... and the best luck to you and Adam .

for the people who have posted some rude comments to my posts and some personal attacks to me in person , i would say i have used to this kind of agressive behavior here on MENA forum and that's why i haven't been here lately .
the thing is i just can't find myself keep going on and on with some useless woman , uneducated , and most likely they don't even know what they are talking about .. so i will leave it like that and i'm not gonna be on defense with some people who their only intention is to come to MENA forum to see their daily soap-opera .. sorry i'm not going to be a part of that !

most of you MENA women come here to see other people in pain and having problems with no intention to help in anyway .. and i can imagine you when someone try to help .. that must be so BAD , right !

so you are right from now on i have to concentrate on my own .....

NOW i have an anniversary here to start celebrating kicking.gif kicking.gif

wish you all be happy
