Hello. I just got finished posting in the "still waiting after filing in Aug/Sept" thread. helpsmilie.gif When I first went and filed the I-130, my aunt told me that when they brought my uncle over from a foreign country 20 years ago, they just hired an immigration attorney and everything went smoothly. So my question is, would hiring an attorney help my husband and I? Is there any way that an attorney would be able to speed up the process? Or is it too late since we already filed? (Insert gloomy music here)

hiring an attorny only helps in filling out the paperwork for you. we hired the attorny for the i-130 and i-129 and the only thing they did was file the paperwork. we had to do all the work gathering things. yes everything went smoothly but then we used them on our AOS and of course that all went fine also until we got caught up in name check where we have been for the past 3 years.

hiring an attorny does not make things go smoother in the aspect of getting approvals faster or anything like that. they just put the package together and answer ur questions...thats all.

another thing...things have changed since 9/11 and things dont move as fast as 20 years ago.
