Just wondering whether this paperwork is a shared task in your relationship or if there's one person who takes charge more than the other. Please give reasons and any other details you'd like to share!

I have done all the paperwork with the exception of the stuff Claudeth had to fill out for Manila. I need to take a picture of the I-751 packet, it looks very professional if I do say so myself

With the exception of the I-129f packet, I have done the lion's share of the work. J is a great helper though.

Ditto for me too. It's not only the forms, but some of the nomenclature that is unfamiliar to my wife (who speaks English quite well).
Most of her contribution was early in the VisaJourney when she had to obtain several documents from various Belarusian government ministries needed as part of our I-129F petition. Jump forward several years later and we have just sent off her N-400 in October to become a US citizen. My next (and hopefully last) chore will be to do the same for my stepdaughter when she will be eligible to apply for US citizenship at the end of 2009.
I have filled out the forms for both my wife and my adult stepdaughter throughout the many steps in this process. I assemble everything and have them look over the assembled packages to double check it for errors or something I might have forgot.
We have managed to do this without an attorney, but our petitions are uncomplicated and have gone through without any major problems we couldn't deal with ourselves.

This was easy, the responsibility falls fully on the petitioner. It is the USC that is doing the petitioning, not the beneficiary.

Love the poll!
I thought I was unique, now I see I am not
It is long known that men (on average) do less housework than women... I see it applies to paperwork as well... at least so far...

I'm really interested in everyone's responses!

I'm the foreign fiancee, a UKC but living in NL, and I'm mostly responsible for our paperwork, although my USC fiance is really supportive and has done everything he has needed to at the right time. I wasn't sure whether most couples were doing this together or if one person was taking charge, hence the idea for the poll.

I began it all in February 2004 with the I-129F and have done it all (excluding what David had to do in England for the interviews...but I still helped complete them via chat

), including the I-130/I-485 for my stepdaughter that moved here earlier this year. I will complete David's N-400 next year but do believe the kids will be on their own from here on out to renew their 10-year cards or N-400s if they choose in a couple of years.
Good grief, I-129F, two I-485s, I-130/I-485 and two I-751s (all three going on about the same time!

). I'm dreading next year with the N-400.

I've had it with immigration paperwork!!!! The kids can get a wee taste of it when they're ready.

I (the female USC) did everything for I-129F besides my husband giving some input about pictures, give me his password to print out his e-mails, and then obviously dates of jobs and schools.
However, once we were approved he was more active since he had to get the blood tests done, x-ray, criminal records, and other necessary paperwork, his plane ticket to Rio.
But I called the medical doctor in Rio and set up the hotel, booked our flights from Rio to Miami.
But I didn't mind one bit. He didn't speak any English and I have a lot more experience with this kind of thing (applications, details, papework) than he does.
I think it also helped me with my stress and kept me busy. He worked even more the few months before he moved here.

I have done all the brunt of the work, but that's only cos I have most of the evidence

He is up to snuff as far as the process is concerned....we frequently discuss things on an equal footing (I'm not sat there explaining terminology, timelines, etc) but I'm the one following the case.

I love it though, I'm super anal and I love details....I'm actually enjoying collecting all the info and getting it ready to send in next week.

The K-1 Petition I-129F and I-134 was prepared with my then Fiance (now my husband) himself. I did all the Immigration interview stuff and he just supplied me the needed documents, so when i told him that i was approved he was very proud of me. As for the AOS and EAD, we both work on it together.

I am doing the bulk of the paperwork for the visa process but Govi and his dad ran around Kathmandu getting stuff signed and rounding up witnesses so we could have our court marriage finalized and have a nice temple wedding while I was there so it's pretty fair I guess

I did the bulk of the work, but C. contributed a lot. I prepared the I-129F petition, but he took care of everything on the K-1 end. For AOS, he filled out all of the paperwork except the I-864. But I've been the only one that's done the research.

I (female USC) did (and still do) most of our paperwork. Im very particular about how things are arranged and compiled, partly because Im just an anal-rententive b!tch and partly because I used to be an auditor (which could be argued as being one in the same). Ahmed's was good about collecting the bits I needed from him, signing where told, etc. But we learned really quick it was much simpler for me to fill everything out, explain it to him, and then give it to him to sign.

I know right? Mine keeps procrastinating EVERYTHING. Drives me totally crazy. I think it actually hurt him to fill the Affidavit of support out because it involved typing his name

I just keep pushing him because otherwise we would have NEVER have anything done.

I (female USC) have done most of it for several reasons
1 - the forms are mostly in English
2- I'm the USC so the application originates with me anyway (the original K1 application I helped him fill out when we were together because he would not have been sure how to write Korean names, places, etc. in English).
3 - I'm much better at it!
His contribution was to get various documents that were needed such as his family register, photos, apply for a passport, court records, arrange for translations, get a medical exam - so he had enough to do. And he had to fill out certain forms that were required by the embassy before making the interview appointment. When I went to Korea for the interview, I had to fix up some of his forms, he had not done them completely correctly.
Now we require a waiver and I have done most of that too...it's more complicated and he does not even understand the process as well as I do. We are working with a lawyer and my fiance's job was to answer the lawyer's questions (many of them) to help him write a letter that goes along with this application...and to get a friend of his to write a support letter also.
