Hi members,
We got our NOA2 yesterday. I'm the beneficiary, currently in Bangalore. Can anyone tell me what paperwork I should do in advance now, so that when I receive the packet3, pkt 4, I'll be able to send it to the embassy soon.
I've planned to change my residence next week to Chennai (hopefully before my case is sent to the Indian embassy). How and when should I notify this to the embassy? Or should my petitioner do it on my behalf? Or is it advisable to stay in my present address till I get all the posts to this address+police certificate?
Reg. the police certificate, what is the procedure in India (Bangalore/Chennai)? Should I go to the police station and request for a certificate? Or anything I should courier? Also, should I get this certificate from all the cities where I was residing for the past 5 years?
When should I do the medical test? Is there any list of hospitals to do in Chennai specific to K1 visa?

Hi Kavitha .... welcome to the Visa journey .... Please fill in a Time line of your Visa journey .. as a Signature... ( you can find the option byu clicking Assistant and then Edit time line Signature)
Many Questions... here are the answers if ... I hope this helps you out......
1. You have to keep ready all paper work in ORIGINAL ready. The basics are passport, birth certificate( with name of your parents clearly mentioned), Husbands Tax papers, Ploice certificate ( PCC) from the passport office and local police commisssioner office, also i think there are other forms to be filled out which you will get from the chennai consulate website. Please also refer to the K1 memebers forum on this site for more requirements.
2. It is not advised you change your address. Keep the same residency your husband has mentioned in the visa application. Changing the address will delay in procedure and NVC and US consulates are working on full capacity.
3. For the PCC ( police clearance certificate).... you have to go the pasport office from where your passport was made and have to fill a Misc form 2 to get the PCC. the fees is Rs.300. It will take 7 working days to get the same.
4.For the PCC from the Commissioner office, you have to get PCC from all the places where you have resided for more than a period of 6 months. you have to do written application and attach the necessary paperwork.
The paper work required to get both the PCC is passport copy, coloured photos 2 inch * 2 inch, ration card copy, Electricity Or Phone Bill , college leaving certificate, degree certificate and pan card are optional.
5. You have to to do the medical test once you get the Interview letter. the list of hospitals and doctors doing medical would be on the chennai consulate website.
In Short Please read the forum as much time as you can and all the necessary details are there on the Consulate website. Please you can also refer to Visa FAQ section for more doubts and for rest other..... All VJ people will help you out as much as they can.
I hope the above info Helps You
God blesss

Thanks for your reply Jigi. Most of my queries were answered. I have some more questions
1) In some posts in VJ, I saw some mentioned they received only one pkt(or pkt 3 and 4 together from the consulate). Will I get the 2 pkts together or separately?
2) My fiance is coming down to India for vacation. So I will not be present in my address to which the embassy sends out pkt3. Should I be physically present in my address to receive the pkt or can any of my roomates/house owner receive it on my behalf?
3) Can you tell me how I can obtain PCC in India? Should I go to the Police station in my locality and ask for one? Or should I write my own letter requesting clearance?
In some posts, they mentioned to get it Regional passport office where I got my passport.
Pls clarify...

Hi,
1. Its true there are atr times 2 packets together. Actually depends on the Visa you are going for.
2. Family members can receive the mail on your behalf. If you cant take it personally you can also collect a duplicate copy from the embassy itself in person by taking a proof of identity like your passport.
3. You have to get TWO PCC's........... namely from the PASSPORT OFFICE where your passport was issued & the Other PCC is from the Police Commissioner's Office where you have stayed for more than 6 months after you have turned 18. The documents required to obtain both the PCC i have mentioned in the same thread above.
Try to be in touch with your local Embassy as much as you can to understand the process and the chennai consulate website.
I hope this helps kavitha.
God bless

Thanks Jigi you are giving good answers.
For K1 visa, usually Mumbai and Delhi Consulates sends out Packet 3 first. After filling out the forms and returning it to the Embassy, they send Packet 4 with the Interview date. At Chennai Consulate, they schedule an interview date immediately after receiving the case from the NVC. Then within a week they usually send out Packet 4, giving the interview date and further instructions. So, there is no Packet 3 for Chennai Consulate. You can email the Chennai Consulate and ask when your interview date is, that's how we found ours out!
For the PCC, just visit the office, they will give the application to fill out. You do not have to compose any letter yourself.
Chennai Consulate emailed me all the paperwork for Packet 4 (because ours was late coming in the mail). If you are interested, I can send you a copy of the files. Just PM me with your email address.
