I call CSC today and was told that my case was with an officer. I was wondering how long it would be after that before I can hope to see an approval. Although I did not get to find out when my file was forwarded to the officer. Anybody with similar experiences? thanks

I got my approval 3 days after it was assigned to an adjudicator. Of course, I called on the day after it was assigned, so they said that it had just been assigned the previous day. Of course, you have to contend with Thanksgiving.

Difficult to say as the IO has a BIG stack of petitions to go thru.
Normally only takes about 15 minutes to review each.
No saying where yours is in the pile.
It does look like CSC as speeded up since the "fee beaters" swamped them tho.

It all depends....my case was assigned to an officer for a very long time....like six weeks.

chinemeze, how did UScis tolld you that your case was now assigned to an adjucator? Did they put you on hold and transfer you to one of the representatives in csc? Coz Ive filed my case close to yours, so I'm expecting were on the same batch.

I used the RFE trick and was transfered to CSC, the lady I spoke to asked me for my case # and she started to tell me that it was not yet 6 months, but I told her that I had mailed it in since 5/29/07. Then she told me to wait and seemed to have looked into another screen besides the one we all see, then she told me that my case has been assigned to an officer and that it could be about 2 to 3 weeks to get it approved. Altthough I did not ask her when it was assigned, I know that it could be more or less the time before I see the approval. Besides, the call I made has not triggered any changes to my online status as far as being touched.

What exactly is this RFE trick? I've seen it mentioned bunches of times but no explanation?

When can I use the rfe trick, it means I can't use it because I hve no touches yet. My last update for my I-130 is 7/11 and for my I-129 its 8/22.

The RFE trick is using the "request for further evidence" option in the USCISs automated message. It will put you straight through to someone who works at the service centre where your petition is currently held, instead of a normal person in the call centre. Even if you use this trick, you are not guaranteed to have a good result, especially if your petition is not over 6 months from received date. The USCIS person you speak to is not obligated to tell you anything, so it is up to their discretion how helpful (or unhelpful) they choose to be.
Pechez,
I have only seen people who filed in May/June approved recently (unless I missed some July filers), so they may just be working their way up to yours. To have gone so long without a touch is also not a cause for concern. Some people do not get a touch at all until their approval. Some people generate their own touches by phoning using the RFE trick. A touch you see on people's signatures can either be a genuine touch because an adjucator has looked at the file, or it can be a VJer-caused touch where the VJer has made the adjucator look at the file because of the RFE trick.
Hope this helps to clarify

thanks c and j ! I just have few questions regarding k3. So frustrating that we sent the I-130 package may 8, 2007. My hubby called USCIS and was told they got it may 15. But when I checked online it says there On June 1, 2007 we received this I-130..... and the receipt date is July 11.we got the hardcopy of the receipt notice July 18. When will I start counting? Is it from June !st or from July 11?
Another thing, since We got the hardcopy of the receipt notice late, we file the I-129f july 18, and was receive by the USCIS July 24. it was transferred to laguna niguel aug 9, so does it mean I have to count from the date of the transfer aug.9 even USCIS receives it JUly 24? Plsss. help me. So confused. We are in the same boat and you guys are the one giving me hope.

Yep, same story here. We got excited about being assigned to an officer, but that was over a month ago and no word yet - no RFE or approval.
