Hello everyone smile.gif

I have a question regarding the I-864EZ vs. I-864-A. I am only bringing my wife to US, I have a stable income so I am using my income to qualify, and I am the petitioner.

My income is also higher than the minimum US Poverty Guideline requirements. I used I-864 EZ in our case and it was approved and send to the embassy. However, a friend of ours also claims that the embassy may require the I-864-A as well? Is this true? I thought I-864-A is used if the sponsor doesn't have the financial income or asset to qualify and requires a sponsor. Is this information correct?

Thank you for your help regarding this matter.

If your approve.. I don't see the reason why you need I-864A. Like you said I-864A is for petitioner who doesn't meet the poverty guidelines and in need of an sponsor.

I don't think you should worry about the I-864A.. Its not for you..

I-864A cannot be used with I-864EZ, I-864A is used by a member of same household to provide supplemental support, and is used in conjunction with I-864.

I-864EZ is used for simple cases where: (No joint sponsor used, No assets used, and only One immigrant is being sponsored) Income exceeds 125% poverty line.

Yes, you are right. Should someone needs a joint sponsor, another I-864 must be filled out by the joint sponsor.

You're all set. Your friend is mistaken.
