I have looked on the previous postings on here and it is hard to find an answer that fits my question, I am sure it is out there however it is elusive.
I went to the Fl DMV to get a driving licence and was told that providing I passed my test they would grant me a lecence for the duration of my K1 visa. They also told me that I was allowed to drive on my UK licence for 6 months anyway. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for getting your licence once your K1 90 day visa expires, your six months UK licence period expires and if you are still waiting for your EAD? Will they accept NOA 1? I am sceptical as it doesn't say anything about being granted permission to stay etc. I have a small amount of time before this situation comes to pass and am just trying to make sure I am as well informed as I can be before actually walking in to the waiting room that is the DMV.

Any constructive help offered is most appreciated.

DMV is a states rights thing so requirements are different in all states.

Most want evidence of legal presence, and all want SSN.

Evidence of legal presence is EAD, or Green-Card or approval notice for EAD or green-card. What the DMV in your state is accepting as legal presence is the I-94 card in your passport, but when it expires you don't have legal presence evidence until EAD or Green-card.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the USCIS trying to approve the EADs within 90 days now?
If so you shouldn't have any problems, just continue driving on your foreign license and get the state DL as soon as you receive your EAD.
I haven't heard yet that anyone was able to get a DL with the NOA1 alone.

"Original Driver License or Identification Card Florida law requires identification, proof of date of birth and social security number (if issued, Chapter 322, Florida Statutes, requires the Department to collect social security numbers for the issuance of driver license and identification cards) from all customers before a driver license or identification card can be issued.

Immigrants
Each immigrant who applies for an original driver license or identification card must submit:

1. Alien Registration receipt card, (Green card, Form I-551); or
2. I-551 stamp in passport or on I-94; or
3. Immigration Judges Order, with the customer's A-number, granting asylum; or
4. I-797, with the customer's A-number, stating the customer has been granted asylum; or
5. I-797 or another form from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, with the customer's A-number, stating the customer's application for Refugee status is approved; or

Non-Immigrants

Each non-immigrant who applies for an original driver license or identification card must submit:

1. Employment authorization card issued by the United States Department of Justice (Form I688B or I-766); or
2. Proof of nonimmigrant classification provided by United States Department of Justice (Form I-94, not expired, with required supporting attachment(s). If in doubt regarding required documents, please bring all of your INS documentation with you.). I-94s must be accompanied by a Passport. Certain classifications require additional documentation. Some examples are:
* F-1 and M-1 classification must also be accompanied by an I-20.
* I J-1 or J-2 designation must be accompanied by an IAP-66.
* Refugee, asylee and parolee classifications must be accompanied by additional documentation."
