Pagan.

Not offended.

Celebrate the pagan part of xmas.... tree, yule log, holly, presents, etc.

Yay for the tree! kicking.gif

we are putting up our tree the first weekend in December good.gif and yes we have a fake tree but it is quite nice and not as messy... tongue.gif

We use fake trees 'cuz killing a tree for a few days enjoyment is insane. I traditionally put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. I like looking at the tree for as long as possible.

I want to get a real tree this year so that Jinky and Job can smell what a real pine tree smells like...they only have the fake ones in the PI.

Then buy a live one and plant it or donate it to a local park/family. I can't in any way advocate or tolerate the murder of a tree for such a silly reason. The tree-hugging hippie in me comes out when it comes to nature being used as the play-thing of humans....

I'm agnostic (different to atheism) and would not be offended if someone wished me a Merry Christmas. I rather like it. I was brought up celebrating Christmas (non religious way, y'know turkey, presents, lots of chocolate! and it is part of my life.) I enjoy decorating the tree, I enjoy wrapping the presents and so on. It's a really nice time of year.

Of course, we're ignoring one aspect of this completely. Many schools no longer allow Christmas displays although they will allow displays from other faiths. Same goes for some municipal property. That's the real reason they're pissed off, not because of Macy's.

Brings to mind the Christmas trees in the SeaTac Airport from last year. Someone complained and threatened to sue. The trees came down. EVERYONE else complained and the trees went back up smile.gif People offered to bring menorahs and other decorations honoring different religions, but it came to no fruition.

I am Catholic and obviously I'm not offended. But I don't mind "Happy Holidays" either. I don't care what people say, what I wish is that people were a little kinder overall during the season. Many are, sure, but man it gets tiring to see people b!tching and complaining because lines are long or traffic is bad. DUH it's a busy season. Get over yourself, drink some damn cocoa and move on.

(oh, sorry)

Oh, you're expecting someone to check ... "I'm not covered by the choices above "... how sensitive of you ... who wants to be called a “not covered” .. do you?

So what this poll really says to someone is … I won't mention you because I don't want to be bothered knowing about your religion, so I'm calling you ... "I'm not covered by the choices above " ... pfft

btw: I didn't vote .. yet another BS Poll yes.gif

Personally I would not be offended at all. I wouldn't be offended is someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah, for example- I'm not Jewish. I would just wish them the same.
l.j./1999
My husband and I have different religious backgrounds (he's Christian, I'm Jewish - although neither of us is strongly observant), and neither of us would be offended by any kind of well-meaning holiday greeting. If someone wishes me a Happy Anything, I'd smile and wish them the same back.

While I think it's silly to be offended by someone's choice of greeting, I also don't see a problem with people wanting to avoid offending others, especially living in a diverse city like New York where there's always a good chance the person you're greeting isn't Christian. I've found that most people, even if they're not offended at all by a sincere Merry Xmas (especially coming from someone they don't know well), do appreciate you showing interest in their culture and finding out what they actually celebrate.

"I am Muslim and no" to both.

I don't know why saying "Merry Christmas" to non-Christians would offend them. I like it when people, Muslim and not, say "Happy Eid" to me.

Christmas is awesome. It's fukking merry. Everyone should appreciate this glorious consumerist holiday and put up a dayum tree. This atheist Jew can't wait to decorate.

Husband and I are Muslim. I voted no and yes. I love Christmas...the lights, decorations, trees, presents, cookies...all of it. As my oldest son says....it's such a cozy time of the year. smile.gif I have my fresh wreath that I ordered from the boss's son sitting on my desk ready to be put up later tonight. The kids and I are putting up the tree this weekend. I adore this time of year.

Click to view attachmentI know I cant vote on this poll bcz I am a Christian... but I Love Christmas, I love saying Merry Christmas, I love the cold weather, the time with family and friends, singing Christmas songs (wish it was playing earlier on the radio too) laughing.gif the different food, giving presents to loved ones, and remembering to celebrate love and life.

Im unusual... this year for Christmas... I did a VERY unnormal thing! I bought a
PINK Christmas tree from walmart. The 4ft cutie sized tree... with pink and purple lights and put lil purple ornaments on it ! I just love my PINK tree... luv.gif

Wiccan/Pagan here. I don't get offended by people saying Merry Xmas, I'd probably be pleased that they took the time and effort to wish me anything nice at all as most people nowadays don't seem to give a shite. Hubby on the other hand, is Baptist and he would probably be offended if you wished him anything but "Bah Humbug" LOL I love Christmas biggrin.gif I love the pretty lights biggrin.gif I love giving pressies to the people I care about biggrin.gif I love watching my daughter get all excited about it biggrin.gif For me though, christmas is mostly about family, I have a huge family, who fight and squabble and bicker and refuse to talk to one another all the time, but at christmas time everyone forgets about all the BS and just be nice to each other. it's great!

Personally I think the people who do complain are just small minded people in need of something important to occupy their minds!
