My fiance worked here under the OPT program. he already has a social security card that sates that he can work with permission. Does he need to go get a new one or renew this one?

No if he already has a SSN then he does not need to get another.....

You don't renew SSNs or cards. If the card has no restriction or has "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH INS AUTHORIZATION" he should be OK with that card. Just to be sure when he gets here have him call the SSA 800 # (800-772-1213) to review his SSN record. Ask them what's the "IDN" code if it's other than "N" he's OK.
