I have a question about form 864. We sent it in NVC middle of Oct. However, agent said they still don't receive it today.
So it is usual that NVC won't put 864 into system when they receive it, or they should already put it in?
I don't know why it takes me so long. Just worry that the form was got lost.
We seem to have lost IV bill in Oct as well because the first IV bill didnt enter system for 20 days and we decided to mail a second one, and then it is entered.
I have no idea why my mail is missing. Hopefully 864 wont be missing......
Anyone remember how long it takes for NVC put 864 info in after they receive the form?

Thanks....

Hi whitesnail,

They put it in as soon as they get it - well I should say when they get around to it - separate from the DS-230, so no, they don't wait for the DS-230.

I sent my I-864 in on August 2nd, they acknowledged receipt on August 9th (things were faster then of course).

How are you sending your info - did you send in the IV bill with a trackable envelope - did you get a confirmation receipt from the post office for the first IV bill? Did you check to see that it was actually the 2nd cheque that they received? Maybe the first payment is the one they actually finally entered.

Also, how did you mail in the I-864 - did you track it as well?

My hubby sent out 864 and IV bill. But he told me he didn't save the tracking receipt. So we don't know 864 was really arrived yet. Just believe that the mail should not get lost.
It seems we have to mail in 864 again since it has been 20 days..... I have no idea what happened to the mails. sad.gif We just trust US mailing system too much. We wasted at least 2 weeks....sad.gif

20 days for them to acknowledge receipt of the mail does seem really long. Even though it takes some time for them to look at things, I have found that they are pretty fast at actually saying - we have received it.

Well good luck with that, sorry this is so tough for you, hang in there.

I would think there should be a way to obtain the tracking number from the Post office if your husband has used a credit card to pay. When sending docs to NVC, it usually takes about 4 biz days from the time they received to the time it's being entered into their system. If you have your 864 docs ready it wouldn't harm resending them. I would be more concerned if your DS230 form got lost since that will most likely contain original docs. Good luck!

hi white smile.gif we mailed out 864 and ds230 at same time to NVC by overnight expresspost from houlton maine on Tuesday, Nov 13th - I called down there today and message said "documents received Nov 16th - please allow 6-8 weeks for processing". I wonder if your's got lost somehow? I hope it gets sorted out! gl and best wishes smile.gif

Thanks for all your comments. My hubby will resend 864 this weekend. 230 is generated already. I will be really careful this time.
I guess we are just really bad luck recently. Hope things are getting better from now on.

Im sorry to hear about that. They normally post it as soon as they receive it. I wonder what happened with it. Hope they will rectify it.

You should call NVC and find out whether they have received your I-864 packet before you mail them a new packet. It is unusual for a mail not to reach its destination in USA. Buying a tracking (cost less than a dollar) would give you a piece of mind.

As the others said, I-864 is not held up for DS 230.

I thought I-864 comes 1st then DS230?

Normally it does, but sometimes people get the DS-230 first, ours arrived within 1 day of each other.

Have a look at this NVC flowchart - you can see they are on two individual tracks:

I-864 follows a shorter track. When NVC enters payment of AOS Fee Bill into their system, they generate I-864 packet. NVC generates DS 230 packet when they enter IV Fee Bill into their system. NVC generates IV Fee Bill, after the beneficiary takes care of the choice of agent. So if you take care of Choice of agent and AOS Fee Bill at the same time, you will receive your I-864 packet first.

My case was kind of messed up I guess..

After submitting the choice of agent, I got my bill for AOS $70, after paid, I got my I864, then after I submitted it, they mailed me an RFE that I am missing something, which is the IV fee bill, called them and told them I haven't got it yet. That very next day I got it, and paid for it the next day. After 2 weeks which is now. I just called and they told me they got my fee and they just generated my DS230..

A little problem though.. I would love to use JS 2.0 for my DS230, but my wife's NBI clearance is pending and its not due till December 4, Plus I'm moving to a new address on Decememver 1st. :-( DELAYS!! DELAYS!! DELAYS!!
