My green card expires on Nov 25th, 07. I know I am too late, but I was out of the country. Should I send everything via FedEx or USPS certified? I am little nervous and scared for the deadline. Any thing can I do to expedite this? Thank you so much.

Yes you can use FedEx or any other courier service. However make sure you use the correct address, as PO boxes cannot be used for courier services, you will need the physical address. It should be noted on the form instructions to form I751.

I would use USPS priority mail certified with receipt confirmation card. USCIS honors Post Marked Dates, and you can only get a post mark from the POST OFFICE.

Thank you. Can I get into trouble for filling so close to the deadline? I know next week is holiday and that could delay processing of my file. Should I get a lawyer or just send this via USPS first thing tomorrow morning.

No problem just make sure all paperwork is in order to avoid an RFE, and make sure the check is made out to correct ammount, I would send it ASAP, you have 10 days left.

you are not too late yet.... you can file anywhere between 90 days and the day the card expires... I have known people who have mailed it off a few days before their card expires and they were fine.....

don't stress out about it..... just mail it off good.gif

If I remember correctly, the addresses provided in the I-751 instructions form are only PO Box addresses.

fas917, you can also use USPS Express Mail. It's overnight shipping and you can track your package online. I spent $21.40 to send mine.

Send it USPS Express Mail, the Post Office's overnight service. I would avoid Priority Mail given that you are so close to the green-card expiration date.

pls scratch my answer.... I've looked all over the USCIS website, and while I couldn't even access some parts anymore (error messages all over the place), I cannot find a physical address for the service centers anymore ( unsure.gif they used to be on the website there somewhere, but as said, I can't find it).

Probably best if you follow with the brilliant advise the others have given your regarding USPS express mail.

All the best!

the addresses are listed on the instructions for the I-751.... http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-751instr.pdf

I thought there was an address for those people who wanted to send it in using "commercial overnight or fast freight services" but it only shows an address if you need to make an address change... unsure.gif

The physical addresses for overnight delivery are still there for each service center -- go to the page linked below and click on the link for the applicable service center -- the page for each center has both the P.O. boxes and the physical addresses.

USCIS Service Centers

Now that I think about it, the BEST advice is probably to send it overnight via USPS Express Mail. If you send it overnight via USPS Express Mail to the P.O. box -- the only way one can overnight to a P.O. box -- you stand a good chance of it arriving after the person from the service center picks up the mail. We see posts all the time from people freaking out when that happens because of the notice posted on the USPS tracking page about the package possibly being returned as undeliverable. If you send it FedEx or UPS to the physical address, you don't get the benefit of the USPS postmark.

So, having heard argument and being fully advised in the premises, I HEREBY ORDER AND ADJUDGE that the preferred method for getting a petition to a service center as promptly as possible is via USPS Express Mail to the physical address of the service center.

DONE AND ORDERED this 14th day of November, 2007.

ROFLMAO! good.gif

US Express Mail is great. It even tells you online what time your package was signed for and by whom.
