Anyone out there who waited over a year to apply for CR1/IR1, did you have a good excuse to share explaning this to the embassy? The last time my wife applied for a tourist visa to visit me (which was approved) the counselor kept nagging her why it took me 7 months to finally submit I-130. She tried to explained that at the time time, I had full intension going to Malaysia and work...but to no avail. He still wouldn't get off that topic and kept asking her why I didn't apply sooner.

I've waited about one year before i applied for an I-130 for my husband because i applied for my citizenship first to make everything smoothly.

I waited 2 years (almost to the date) from marriage to submit the I-130. I (the USC) originally moved to my husband's country (Canada) and started the immigration process there. You think the U.S. is slow... almost 2 years and no forward progress with Canada, so I returned to the U.S. and hubby is coming here now.
