Other... I'm female and kept my married name from my first marriage. I didn't want to have a different last name than my daughters and my career has been built with that name.

If I took Rey's name I would have the name of a very famous baseball player, although when he said he would leave the Yankees, Rey texted me to say now I could change my name. Eeyeah...

I've kept my own name. Didn't change it for professional reasons, but would have kept it for any reason.

I kept my maiden name. My husband didn't want me to take his name and I honestly couldn't have cared less. Our daughter has my name.

My husband asked me to take his name and I think Jenifer Alexander sounds nice.

It would have been different if I had a career built around my name but I don't. Although it was a pain in the ### to change. Oregon would not accept my UK Marriage Certificare because it's not a US document. I had to get my social security card changed and that took 6 weeks. Once that was done, I had no problems getting everything else updated.

Other: I'm male and will not change my name. However, I thought you might be interested in what we will do about Li's name.
In China, the family name is first and the given name is second. Many Chinese 'westernize' their names when they come to the US by reversing their names.
We will not westernize Li's name. Her father was a good man and is deceased. Since the reason for Chinese having the family name first is emphasis on the importance of family: Out of respect, we will leave her family name first.
Li will become her middle name. In order not to confuse Americans, we will add my family name to the end of her name.

When your wife changed he middle and last names, did she actually change in any official documents like Passport or marrigae certificate ?
I've applied for my wife's AOS now just like you have done it but they have just sent the NOA letters with no middle name. I'm now worried if this is going to cause problems like name check etc.

I am adding my husband name with a hyphen and also adding my husbands name with a hyphen to my son's name. I was never married and my son has my mayden last name. I want him to have the same last name as me. AFter we were married asked my son if he wanted to be a Jibowu and he said "yes". It is difficult for me to change my son's last name, because he is the last male ayotte in my immeiate family tree. Although he did not take the Ayotte name from a male ayotte, so it doesnt matter.

In my first marriage I kept my maiden name. I had two children, who's last names were their father's last name. Always caused confusion...geesh.
This is my second marriage, and without hesitation I took my husband's last name. I'm proud to be using it. My kids, young adults now, can't pronounce it or spell it correctly yet.

After my divorce I changed my name back to my maiden name.
I haven't decided yet if I will take P's name. It's a lovely name to be sure, but I'm not sure I want to go through the legalities again.
Maybe legally I'll change it but not at work.

My fiancée will drop her family name and take mine since she will be living in the U.S. If we would have married and stayed in Russia she would have probably kept her family name just so people would still know she was Russian. I believe a family should share one name, either hers or his. But I can't stand hyphening.

I took his last name and kept my first and middle. My maiden name did NOT make a good middle name...at all.
