Hello everyone!

My question deals with the DS-230. When I have to send in part 1 who signs the bottom of the page? My wife is in Japan now while I am in the US. She will appoint me her agent.
The DS-230 calls for the signature of the applicant. Is this my wife or can I sign it?
If it is her I will have to fill one out now and send it to her to sign.

Thanks everyone!!!!!

Your wife has to sign the DS-230. The Ds-230 uses the term 'applicant'. i wish they changed it to 'beneficiary'.

Thanks everyone!

One more question (I hope).

If I am the Agent will they send the DS-230 to me or will they send it to my wife. If she has to sign it why do they not send it to her in Japan?

Thanks!

What I did was download the pdf, fill in all I could and printed it.
Then sent it to my wife and she completed the rest by hand and signed it and mailed it back to me.
I did all that before I ever got my noa2.
Now I have it waiting, and when they ask for it I'll next day it to them.

Hi,

they dont send a printed form of DS-230. they send a letter where all the instructions are written from where to download and how to download. With the instructions you will get a DS-230 coversheet.

tell your wife to download the form. Fill it carefully. Dont leave a single point blank. If there is no answer write N/A.
you wife will sign part 1 and she will also have to fill out part 2, and she will sign the part 2 in front of the CO officer.
tell your wife to fill all up, make copis of the submitted form. Tell her to send the filled form to you in advance with which you can attach all the documents with the DS-230 Coversheet and send it back to NVC.

The documents you need to send with DS-230 are on the travel.state.gov website

I hope this helps
