Received i-797C in the mail a couple days ago. He is scheduled for 11/28 for his biometrics appointment. YAY

Now I gotta make sure I have that date off so I can go with him. We need to get our licenses updated to Texas before this appointment.

Went for what was supposed to be my final wedding dress fitting last night. The dress is done...but the matching jacket was first two small, and now it's too big! We're not sure what we're going to do about it...we don't have fabric to make another jacket so I think we're going to let out the seams on the sleeves of the small one as much as we can and hope for the best.

Work today, work tomorrow....but tonight's the last night I have "free" to clean my house and as of right now I might be taking one of my coworkers who is helping me SO much with the wedding to dinner to meet my uncle, who is also helping me.

I can't wait for this wedding! It's going to be a blast...my uncle has all kinds of surprises up his sleeves because he used to cater elaborate weddings in Florida all the time. I know a few of the surprises, but I'm not telling Ramy a thing!

I have to take my daughter to get a tooth pulled and then I'm back at the clinic for a good part of the day. We start working Monday ....mainly to learn how to work the computer system before we start taking appointments next Thursday. My old boss, who likes to have his money talk has been mentioning to his employees, who are my friends that he's planning on taking legal action with my friend and I. FOR WHAT??? Actually we think he's scared because he will lose some business. But, we covered our butts and there is nothing he can do legally to us. What a freak. He's said he's going to send 'spies' over to check us out. I can't wait because our clinic is a palace compared to his ghetto.

Just want to let you girls on AR know that I've really been thinking about you all lately. Hope you hear something soon.

On another note.....I need a PDA and have no clue what type to get. Any ideas?

one more day of work after today then i finally get a 3 day weekend.

I am scared. Can ya believe it? I am scared poopless over a building. That's right, a building. I have been measuring and estimating flooring for 13 years. I know what I am doing. Always. I am one of the best in the Chicagoland area at what I do.........but today....is freakout time. This afternoon I have to go in this big azz building and measure. It might be,,,a little over my head. It is making my heart race thinking about it. Why this reaction? I have watched this building go up for a year, since the first shovel of dirt was moved. I have pics of its growth and now it is time to lay the tape, I am freezing up. Stage fright? Feeling like I will let my boss and the builder down if I can't handle it? I don't think I can handle the pressure and stress this project will bring. I want to go back to measuring living rooms and kitchens. I can't mess up a living room. This multi-million dollar project, might be too much for me at this time.

Sorry for rambling, I don't have anyone else to talk to.

this is that building you posted a few days ago? if so that does sound like a daunting project, but i know you'll do fine. just take your time.

How bout a blackberry? That way you have a phone/email mechanism and pda all in one.

Just got my flu shot and we got free cool pens that look like syringes!!

Aymerlu, did you sign a covenant not to compete under your former boss? And if so, for how long and was there a physical area defined? Conversely if you did not sign one,then he likely has no cause of action against you.

My mom prefers her new iphone over her old blackberry (it's also easier to use).... It's all in one, and she says she doesn't use anything else anymore, only the computer for her images & artwork.

Cheryl-- Maybe I do things the hard way but I have to hook up my VCR to this USB thing that goes into my laptop, and then I can pull the video feed from that and burn it to a DVD. The connector for the computer cost me about $50 from Best Buy. $50 might seem like a lot but if you need to pull a video feed from something else...say an older 8mm camcorder that doesn't have a USB connector, then the one I have can be used with that too...basically anything that has an audio/video output or an S-video output. It depends on the program and your computer too though--my 2005 laptop didn't have a fast enough processor for the DVD editing program so I ended up getting another laptop. lol (Sorry I'm a geek at heart and I could talk about this stuff all day, and I love to edit videos too--I just posted a video of my grandfather who passed in 1989 on YouTube and it was such a relief to have a backup of the old VHS!) Not only that but when you transfer from the tape to your computer it's amazing how much more clear the video is.

Jackie-- You can do it! I loved all your other designs.

Aymerlu-- even if you did sign a covenant not to compete, if he didn't do it properly then sometimes those wouldn't hold up in court anyway. I signed one for my last job but it was a ridiculous one line thing saying we couldn't work for any competitors for 2 years or something, it wasn't properly written and we weren't given copies of it...compare that to the 5 year one I signed for my current job, where it was drawn up by a lawyer and I have a copy, etc etc. I've never heard of covenants not to compete for Dr.'s offices...not like it's retail or internet retail or whatever! Hello everyone else! Still jumping out of my skin... and my productivity is SHOT!

Nope....no compete clause was ever signed.....I never had a contract, however my friend that's the nurse practioner did, but the only thing it stated in her contract was she had to give a 30 day notice, which she did. However, before she gave notice the boss gave her another contract and he said "THIS CONTRACT REPLACES YOUR OLD CONTRACT!" Well he$$ no, she didn't even sign it! That was when she said, no I will not sign this and this is my 30 day notice. So we are fine there. Plus the state of Missouri does not uphold those clauses in court, but that's not an issue. I actually quit working there in August after being there for 11 years to work in an OB/GYN clinic which I hated, hated, hated. The old boss is also trying to say that my friend that's starting this clinic "stole" me from him. Hell.....I wasn't even working for him when we thought up this idea! It's just him trying to toss his money around and trying to act all big. Anywho, we have our ducks in a row and our attorneys say there's nothing legally he can do. He's just trying to scare us. He's not scaring me at all, just pissing me off.

Good! When I was practicing law, those non compete clauses were some of the most abusive things employers directed against former employees once they left. Good Luck with your future endeavor!

Yes! I do this in school for my classes all the time. You have to have a special deck that will convert both formatts and then finalize the DVD so it will play. I suggest taking it to some video specialist who can do it quick and cheap.




This big daunting building is a blessing in disguise! It's what you need to keep your mind occupied right now! You certainly can handle it and once you are done oh the sense of accomplishment you will have!
