Hopefully I didn't ask this 2 days ago - my memory is kinda going I've been so busy thinking of everything.

For anyone who travelled with their stuff recently:

I've packed boxes, numbered and kept a spreadsheet of the contents of each box. Do i need to add a value for each box? Or just for those big items like computers and tvs etc....

Frankly - it's a little hard to determine the value of my work blouses or picture frames with family photos..... be such a drag if I have to sad.gif

Thanks
Krikit
I didn't even have an inventory list, let alone a cost estimate of the contents. laughing.gif

Just your list of what's in each box is enough. You do not need to put a value on anything. Just write the serial numbers down on the list of all electronic items.

that's tons. we just had 5 or 6 groups of boxes-ie. 15 boxes books, 10 boxes clothes, 12 boxes kitchen, etc. and made up some $ value. they (we had 4 border agents trying to figure out what to do with an IR1) didn't even glance at our packing list. I know that it's pretty much useless to tell someone who's stressing out about a major change to relax-but relax you're fine

Same with us.. they didn't even ask to see the list...we didn't have a dollar value on any of our boxes though.. just 1 box household items, 2 bags of clothes etc..

I made another trip across the border in September and they didn't ask to see a list of contents that time either (i didn't even have one made up the 2nd time).

Best of luck!

a ) YES, you're anal. devil.gif
b ) NO, I didn't know about the IT bit.

LOL. Kidddingggggggggg --- we (ok Bren) did a totally OCD inventory, with values per item. I think he was a bit overboard. Value by box or by shipment seems enough to me.

I made a table using MS word! I only put a value on the high end things and a date bought, but I dont believe that is required! Had headings such as : Item, value, when bought, srl #. kept it basic, grouped items together, but fluffed it up a bit!!
