Long story short, a wasted workday, travel and hotel expenses later we are still no closer to getting the EAD. As soon as we were called up to the counter and we told the Immigration officer what we needed her reaction was to roll her eyes and say "we've told them to stop telling people to come here for that. We no longer issue temporary EAD's and they know that." She went on to say they haven't done it for more than a year and that they don't even have the machines to do it. To add even more insult to injury she tells us that she does not see where a request to expedite was even filed by Officer Gonzalez. This Immigration Officer even went so far as to say that these people are contractors so they won't do what they in the field offices ask them to.
We were so frustrated because as you know, without the EAD, he cannot get a social security number, a bank account, nor a job. I've contacted both my Congressman's office and my representative's office. But I'm ticked because this is the SECOND time I've driven to Atlanta for an Infopass appointment on the advice of the USCIS rep and it turned out what they sent me there for something they no longer do. It's almost as though they will say anything to get you off the line.
Okay enough of my vent post. Is anyone else going through this with a) no ead
