I don't know what boards you go on, but every one I have been on has mods that you can report abuse of TOS. OK, so I guess it is a free for all. Do what you want, say what you want.

we do have mods you can report abuse to.. their names are "Lal and mags". if you have a problem PM them the link to the thread....

Incorrect. You have to PM us to report a member. The drop down box is a separate entity.

Perhaps you meant just the 'praise' button alerts you Mods but not the 'report' button in the drop down menu, but in any case, is this something that Captain Ewok can change so that you are being alerted not just on members being praised but also being reported? As a Mod, how do you feel about it?

Also, I just want to add that I didn't post this thread as a knock at you or Laura. I think my string of threads here in the Suggestions Forum have been consistently about finding solutions to what I think a good number of members see as real problems. I was hoping to make the job of moderator easier, while making this environment here friendly for everyone to post without fear of ridicule.

I don't think that the above poster was 'bullied into silence', Steven...if she makes a choice to post or leave, that's her choice. It's not that she's 'afraid of the bullies' so much that she doesn't post.

There's a difference to a personality conflict where two adults simply don't click in temperment, and bullying.

I think it's all in perspective, really. We can each look at a person and walk away with different opinions. Bully is a bit OTT, no? No one here's gonna get a faceful of dirt shoved in his/her face during recess. People will agree, people will disagree. And some people are 'bullies' and some are 'wussies', and everything in between....at the end of the day...if you don't get on with someone, one should either manually or automatically ignore that person. Problem solved.

This thread, to me, reads like passive aggressive finger pointing at it's worst. We're all adults here. We all make our own choices. To have to place blame for one's choices on a stranger seems silly to me.

If you don't like someone, ignore him/her. If that person is iyo out of line...report that person and let admin deal with it. We're not all going to agree....we're not all going to like each other. And we're all at a stage of a v frustrating process...so naturally the stress level is going to be high sometimes. The answer is not having to wrap everything in cotton wool and walk on eggshells in fear of offending someone.

often due to the hateful comments that I read. As you say, I ignore them....So I "paste" controversial threads just
to try to point out those who live here to spread hate and divisivness. But you got it right. I salute you.

For me, knowing the 'praise' and 'report' drop down button will alert you moderators to keep an eye on certain individuals, then I think that's adequate. It would be nice to see a moderator publicly admonish a bully when they are ridiculing someone's post instead of adding anything constructive to the discussion. That would go a long way in keeping them in check, IMO. A simple, "(Name of Person), turn it down a notch," would be great.

For what it's worth I wholeheartedly disagree with this tactic unless it is done on an equal basis. If it is not done with equality in mind then it will seem as though the mods are singling one person out, when there very well may be quite a few at fault. In the end all it does is publically embarass one or two individuals and the rest get away with things without public humiliation if the mods are busy at the time of their particular offense.

Just my two cents.
