Is it ok to send copies (not originals) of the affidavit used for proof of a bona fide marriage with the I-130? Just wondering if I should hang on to the original in case I need it later (I have only one copy of the original)...

When you say "affidavit", what exactly are you refering to? I would think you can send a copy of your marriage certificate as proof; but since the forms changed I am at a loss....

I'm referring to the the 3rd party sworn affidavits that are used as evidence of a bona fide marriage (it's listed in the I-130 Instructions).

Why don't you send the originals and keep copies for your records. That's what we did.

Hi,

If your case is for India, I think you should send the copy of it, make a copy of the original... notarise it by a attorney if your in US or by an advocate if you are in India.

We sent the notarise copy of the affadavit or IR/CR case for India.

I sent copies of sworn statements when I submitted mine. I also sent a copy of my "Certified Marriage Certificate". All went well sending copies of these documents

Are these affidavits mandatory? How many such affidavits must one carry and affidavits from whom would be considered good? Thanks.[color="#483D8B"][/color]
