I hope the poll makes sense. I have been searching through posts and see that people are seeing their online status at different times, it doesn't seem to make sense to me. But what really does make sense when it comes to this whole processing!?
What I read at the end of the NOA1 is:
"Upon receipt of your ASC appointment notice, you can find the status of your case on-line at www.uscis.gov. To view the status of your case, enter the application number found at the top of your ASC appointment notice. NOTE: The I-751 form type will be listed as "CRI89" under the application type in our case status on-line tool."
Unfortunately the above does not seem to be true in our case and in some others' cases. Not surprising for the inconsistency coming from uscis and all, but it's annoying. No, we could not see our status upon receipt of the appt notice. And still we cannot.
Suj's biometrics was last Thursday, and we have no case status online. Maybe it will show up soon, who really knows. I've tried both numbers, on the NOA1 and on the ASC appt letter just in case I was using the wrong one.

Hi Stina, my answered is # 2, after receiving the Biometrics Appointment letter, that was the only one with a valid case number.
We got a first receipt # when our check was cashed but of course it didn't work, and the same goes with the NOA numbers (on a side note, I even received two NOAs, with two different case numbers...and none of those worked!

).
The Biometrics letter was the only one with the valid number and when I entered it in the system my case was there, saying they had received my application. Not much help though...even after the fingerprints appointment the message is always the same as it was that first day!

My answer is the first option. I was able to check my case status as soon as I received my NOA1. The difference with my case is that I don't need a biometrics appointment because we are stationed overseas.

Was only able to see our case status online when I used the case number on the biometrics appointment letters we got.

I have to confess that I didn't even try until after the bios appointment, having read the advice on VJ!

After receiving NOA1 and BEFORE the biometrics(ASC) appointment letter was rec'd. But first received the blue slipt, which I can't remember if it had the receipt # on it.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Still no status online here, but I guess it'll take more time to show up. Bio appt was last Thursday.

Just a bump and also wanted to add...I wrote elsewhere but Sujeet was called again for biometrics b/c his fingerprints were unreadable, so he has to go this Saturday. Still no online status and I guess this will delay status for even longer.
