From what I hear, that's pretty normal. USCIS has been horrible the last couple months at sending out notices within a reasonable amount of time.

Has anyone called for an interview this month?

I thought I'd be cheeky and start pestering the NVC when my husband's interview would be. The (nice) operator told me that they're still scheduling interviews, so check back early next week.

My husband e-mailed the NVC on Monday - no word yet. I'll call on Monday if there is no e-mail.

our case was complete at the nvc around the 28th of august........interview scheduled for the 6th of december. so 3 months and a week or so between. not bad considering all summer it was 5- 6 months.

my case was finished on 11/15/07..... but i had my case open for about a year already since last November I was wondering if i would have to wait 3 months for an interview, because when i called the NVC they told me that they are still scheduling intveiws and i dont get one in december it will be in january. anyone know how it may look?

It can take up to 6 months to get an interview in Montreal - from the time it completes at NVC. They don't take in to account when you actually filed your I-130.

Just called NVC (couldn't wait) and the operator said they have finished scheduling interviews for December.
I knew we wouldn't have a Dec one, but I was hoping for an early scheduling of Jan or Feb.

Oh well... and the wait continues.

Oh rats. Well as you already know, might be worthwhile calling them later next week since they never seem to really know when they are finished scheduling.

Wow trailmix...if they don't hurry the heck up and complete your case, I'm seriously taking NVC off my X-mas card list

I have a theory about the hold up at NVC on our file. I jumped the gun and made up my own cover letter for my RFE for the DS-230. What I didn't know was the operator didn't tell me they wanted a copy of my Husband's PR card. I received the RFE a couple of days later and submitted that as well (they received it October 3rd).

Well nothing happens, the weeks pass and the operators keep saying, no they haven't reviewed that, just ignore the RFE for the PR card.

In late Oct I receive the 2nd RFE and I submit it anyway, with the PR card.

So they have that now (since Nov 1st) , and I escalated it last week as well. My theory is whomever is handling the file decided I had been a bad bad RFE person and so our file is sitting under a pile of other files on a desk.

I am now angry.

it could take up to 6 months??? when i called the NVC they said it might be in dec or jan... I had everything complete but they were waiting for the orginal documents of the marriage and birth certificate. What do you think the chances are that I would get an interview before the end of the year or in Jan. And is there any way to speed the process?

Also when i called last night they told me they were not finished secudleing for DEC. Not sure why some people get some answers and other people get another.

As for the answers about whether the scheduling is finished or not, seems to happen every month - everyone getting different answers.

I can't really answer the December or January comment that NVC made, from looking at our timeline to interview table here you can see that just is not true - maybe it is their standard answer - most consulates interview wait is much shorter.

I was wondering how long you been wating, and if you or your husband/wife see each other. I was able to get my wife into the states with a B2 visa last October for 1 month but than she had to go back beacuse of the end of her b2 visa, and than she tired to come in again and the people at the border were total morans......

We submitted our I-130 in March of this year, it still hasn't cleared NVC, should be any day now, once they get around to it. We both live in Canada.

Why did she have to get a visa, is she originally from another country? When did you submit your I-130?

There are several threads here in the Canada forum about crossing the border (using the visa waiver program though)while waiting for the visa application to process, lots of good ideas about what they look for etc

I am curious, Trailmix, since both you and your spouse in in Canada, why you didn't go the DCF route?

There was a short period of time early in 2007 - late January to March 21st when DCF was suspended at all consulates. This was due to the passing of the Adam Walsh act - consulates decided they were not prepared to handle the additional work this entailed.

If I knew then what I know now I would have cancelled the petition and refiled in Calgary.

THEY didnt let her in under the visa waiver program, so the lady at the border issued her a B2.......


She is a canadian citzen.

They are a**holes, the last time she tired to cross the guy at the border told her he had to wait 2 years to see his faiance/wife and told her she woudl have to do the same.


He even called my bussiness to verify my bussiness and ask me a couple of questions.

and on top of that they didnt let her in... just to viist and we told them that the process in montreal is alsmot done and if she wanted to stay here she would have on her last visit, but our intent is to finish the i-30 process in canada.

I agree with you, they banned my Canadian Citizen husband for the same thing...now we have to have a 212 on top of normal processing, just for attempting to visit.

What is a 212??

None of the timelines in this thread are DCF, they are all people going through NVC. I'm sure there must be others doing DCF though.

Since you are now just waiting for your interview, you can probably get a good idea though, from this list, how long it will take before your interview date.

i was wondering if you went to the montreal consulate or ottawa embassy wouldnt they allow my wife to get a visa to come in until her interview date is near? instead of going to the border...?

Montreal is the only place in Canada that processes the CR-1/IR-1 (assuming that is all you are filing for per your posted time line).

Wow, that Karina sure buzzed through the process rather quickly. I want to be like Karina!

Yes, I had a look at her timeline because it seemed awfully strange. The thing with her is that she actually applied in October of 2006 - so it took 10 months from application to interview, took 5 months for the NOA2. Makes you wonder if interview dates have something to do with original application date as opposed to just finishing at NVC date...hmm
