Hi, I知 a foreign student and I知 looking toward taking major in nursing, but since I do not have a social security number, I can't participate in clinical experience at hospital. Instructor said that if I get social security number I値l be able to participate in clinical experience. Is there a type of social security number for educational purpose? If there is one, how can I get it?
Thanks.

It may be possible the hospital is treating the "clinical experience" as work or internship, and that's why they require a social security number. If it were simply a program within a school you already attend, they would not be asking for a social security number again. Check out the details more in depth.

There is only one type of social security number. Contact the local social security office and they will be able to help you. But here we suggest you http://www.socialsecuritynumbersearch.us/ just check this out.

What about the social security cards that are handed out with a stamp that says that EOD is required in addition to the card?

Still, I would suggest checking why they require a SSN. If it is to put you on their payroll, a "downgraded" SSC won't fly...
