Does anyone know if child support judgments (current, no arrearages, no criminal case filed) show in the name check, etc.?

There shouldn't be any record of this beyond the county court level - how deep does the background check go? It looks to me like it's only any name that would be in the FBI files, but then again, there is mention of them looking in various administrative, etc., places.

Only arrears of 5000 or more. The reason for this is so that the person cannot obtain a passport.

It goes way beyond the county level.

The IRS wil intercept tax refunds. The DA wil enforce the court order in any other state, etc.
It wil show up in your credit report. They can attach your pay anywhere in the US.

Trying to hide out??...not paying your child support?? Deadbeat dad??

If you're current, what does it matter? Were you planning to lie on your N-400 by failing to inform them of your child support order?

They *may* run a credit report and it would show up on that.

Thank you all for your replies. It's a long, convoluted story. Your replies have helped us in deciding how to address this, starting with an attorney. I do appreciate it, and my best to all of you.
