I am an american citizen and my husband immigrated on a k-3 visa on 31st May. We both are self employed so we need to get health insurance. I have been told that all health insurance companies require (in Minnesota) a I551 stamp, meaning that in order for him to get health insurance, he needs be a permenant resident. We won't be getting this for a while now as it is too much money and he can work and has a ss number.

Has anyone else come up against this? I really think it is stupid that he can live and work here, but can't get insurance.

Please help.

My husband was put on my health insurance the day we were married, backdated to that date even though I didn't contact the insurance company till weeks later.

Check with your insurance company and stop listening to what people say on this issue.

Have you looked at Inbound USA? I used them for my time in the US before I got married and added to my husband's plan.
