I read that there are 2 stages to get the medical done in Chennai.

1. Lister Lab Tests
2. Meet a panel Doctor with the test results

My questions are ...
1. Can both (Tests and meeting Dr.) be done on the same day?
2. How much in advance can the medical tests be done prior to the interview date?
3. Do we need to take our vaccination and medical records to Lister Labs as well?
4. Do they tell us if everything is ok?

Thanks, really appreciate your answers!

Hi

I think you should go for medical in such a way that you have the medical report in your hand 14 days ago the interview date....

about the vaccination shots... i guess we indians have all the same shots and doctors know it too... I will just ask my mummy which shots I have taken ... LOL... thank you mummy ji.... I wonder if there r any records of it in the hospital where i was born and have taken the vaccinations....

Cant say whether they do both stufff same day.. I think they should.. thats how it is done in mumbai......

Hello! My hubby had his medical done in Chennai. Both lab and Doc can be done on the same day, no problem. In fact the lab only takes like 1-2 hours in the morning, then you pick up the results after 4:30PM and take them to the doc. Most docs work in the evening (after 5 PM).

You can do the medical anytime, whether several weeks before the interview or several days. Results are given same day and you can see whether anything is wrong. Doc also will say something, I'd think. Vaccination and medical reports need to be shown to the Doc not at the lab. At the lab they do the same blood, urine, X Ray tests for all. Doc needs to see the vaccination reports to fill out the vaccination supplement. Labs don't give any vaccinations.

Good luck for smooth visa sailing! good.gif

My wife just completed her medical yesterday. We went to the lab in the morning got the blood work and x-ray done in a hour. We had to return at 4 and pick up the results and then went to a doctor. The doctor visit was completed in a hour. You have to pay 800 RS at the lab and 700 RS to the doctor. For K3 vacines records are not required.

thanks folks,
My wife came came back from her medical in Chennai. It was a breeze.

For the benefit of others who will be doing this in future, Dr Sanjan john is definitely a good choice. He is very helpful and dosent complain if you dont have all the necessary records of prior vaccinations.

The total cost is Rs.800 for the lab and Rs. 750 for the doctor visit.

Well now the wait is just for the BIG DAY!!!! December 6th....

Dr Sanjan John (Chennai) told me the following:
1. gave me the medical report in an unsealed envelope
2. asked me not to submit it to the VFS
3. asked me to take it to the interview directly

Is it ok if it is unsealed? Thanks.
ELW
Dr. Sanjan John did not seal my husband's medical, either. We didn't have any problems or questions about that. no0pb.gif Don't forget to make a COPY of it, you can send it with AOS paperwork here in USA! yes.gif We gave our medical to the VFS office along with other paperwork (Hyderabad) and it was accepted. I don't know why he said don't give it to the VFS office, he did not tell us that. But then again, things are always changing in this process. whistling.gif

Thanks for your reply ELW!
I have made copies of the medical report.
Yeah, the process keeps changing perhaps. Anyway, I checked with the Consulate and they told me that I can take the medical report to the Interview directly.
