Hi Everyone,

I am almost ready to file my I-129F, G-325A, etc. I have almost all of the documents now, but I am still getting answers to a few questions from my girl. After reading a number of posts, I was leaning in the direction of simply doing all of this myself (very carefully), but when I told my fiancee my intention, she became terrified. She is scared to death that her son will not be allowed to come. I have tried to reassure her, but she still is very frightened. So, now I am thinking that I need to find someone to help me with this (while I keep a close eye on how they are doing it). My girl and I have already had some very heated arguments over money. I fear if I am unwilling to pay for help, then she will see that as proof that I am cheap, that I love money more than I love her, and that I am not too concerned about her son.

Has anyone here heard of Roger Lin (offices in Nanning and Shanghai)? I recall reading a post somewhere by someone who was very impressed with him, but now I can't find the post. I like the idea of having someone there on the ground in China who can speak fluent Chinese, and who can help my girl with document gathering and filling out of forms. This would be particularly helpful with the Guangzhou part of this process. My girl is scared to death of all the various forms she has to try to deal with, and equally frightened of the interview. I have tried to calm her, and have tried to ask her questions to get all of the proper information for the I-129F, G-325A, etc., but she just doesn't understand what I am asking her, and sometimes why I am asking her things. I keep telling her it is because the American government wants to know. She says, "But in China...." Then I remind her that we are trying to bring her and her son to America, not China, so we must do everything we are asked to do. So, with all of this in mind, I emailed Mr. Lin a few days ago to request a little more information about his services, but I have not received an answer. Now, I am wondering if something happened and he did not receive my email, or if he is not very responsive when you need help.

Thanks to everyone here for any help you can give me.

Hi, I have used Roger Lin and am using him, primarily to assist my Lao Po in GZ. He has always been very responsive to me and only over the weekend, is it sometimes harder to get in touch with him. He also has a very good website.

He is now waiting for my P-2 and then when my wife gets the P-3/4 packages so he can assist her further. His initial paperwork was error free, and his fee was where one would like it to be.

PM me if you have more trouble getting in touch with him and I will double check the e-mail address you have. I also have his phone number.

Roger and Hongxia

Tell your fiance to visit a website called A candle for love. It is in Chinese. You can link the URL in your email. She can correspond with others in the same situation. It will explain a lot of things in Chinese terms, you could never hope to convey in English. Also when you go to GZ before the interview attend the ACH, (american citizens hour) at the consulate. This will give you a heads up on what is happening and why. In China lawyers have Guanxi, CONNECTIONS! It is how things are done there. Nothing is done without Guanxi. So your fiance thinks you are crazy to try and deal with the government directly. I agree with her if it involves something in China. She does not know that USA functions differently. There is no way you are going to convince her that you dont need connections to deal with the government. In China it can take more than 3 years to get a business license. With guanxi it can be done in 90 days. If you get my meaning. $$$$

I am having the same experience as you, my fiance is frightened by all the forms and the chance for errors. I emailed Roger yesterday at 9 p.m. He emailed me back at 10:30 p.m. I emailed him back this morning and he responded within a couple hours telling me that he would call my fiance that day to explain things. His rate is fine and I will send his fee tomorrow.

my advice is talk to your fiance or spouse about this, why waste money on something when you could do it your self.

"if it me i would tell her don't worry about a thing, i will take care of everything."

you have to discuss to her what she really want to do, yes in CHina you have to have Guanxi without it you can't do anything, but here in the State if you follow the rule correctly you can done anything without consul with a lawyer.

i agree with the post above. consul her to candleforlove.com if she have problem with form or question i think they are more than welcome to help her.

candleforlove is no better than here, we all want to help but we can't in all situations. Many people do not read a messageboard and believe it as fact. For a matter as important as a fiance visa we must be very careful. Some people are very foreign to this process and don't understand it at all. They need very close help, like someone they can call anytime who will hold their hand through it in their native language and on the ground in their country. Not many of those on messageboards. If the fiance can't help enough then it is time for pro help, someone who does it for a living and is accountable. It isn't a waste, it's worth its weight in gold.

truth, every one is the first. like my self when i apply for my spouse IV i don't even know a thing. i find this now i know a ton. yes there are two side to the story.
1. the USC side, the other is the foreign spouse, yes foreign spouse cannot access to the web but the USC can, they can consul their spouse of what happen what they are planning to do.
IV is a hard road and every need help when they first encounter.

spending money consul a lawyer is depend on person to person, some one might feel it worth it, but personally i feel it a waste. i think that the whole IV process is just a test between the USC and foreign spouse, if they cannot go through this hardship they might or might not be together at the end.

Wow, that's rather judgemental isn't it? Consider that one little mistake can cost six months or more of waiting. Consider 10 hours of work time pays completely for the Lin fee. Now what is more important? 10 hours or six months? Still a waste? Personally we feel much better knowing that a person who definitively knows what they are doing can be called by us on the phone with any little question. We don't have to rely on well-meaning acquaintances to guess what we need. "This hardship" is government BS that should have no effect whatsoever on whether we "might or might not be together at the end." It is peace of mind to pay so little to someone who will deal with the BS so we can concentrate on what is important, us. I guess that might be different for others though, thanks for your perspective. Different strokes! tongue_ss.gif smile.gif

When the Chinese fiance(e) or spouse has to deal with the P3, and/or fill out the G325a without a competent interpreter/translator, access to somebody who knows what to do can be a godsend.

IMO, the most important "evidence" at the interview is a confident, prepared and pleasant visa applicant. Worry and fear are prescriptions for doom. We didn't hire legal help in Nanning but did have competent translation assistance preparing the petition, P3 and at the Consulate. Staying in Yang Jihua's hotel and his staff's assitance was of great value.

A Chinese beneficiary with good English skills combined with a petitioner that learns the process, probably wouldn't need any help.

as i said before i said it againt. it depend from people to people. people have their own opinion. yes you feel it help to find some one who know the situation and get consul. but let me ask you something, if a lawyer make a mistake wouldn't your process have to waitb6 months or more or you get a speedy process.

lawyer or your self is the same situation when file for iv process

IMO, a specialist is not the same as a newbie. Especially for a detailed assignment dealing with government bureaucracy.

Someone who makes their living and reputation knowing and doing something is not the same as someone who has never done something and relys on others who are not specialists for advice.

There are reasons people hire specialists when their car is broke, their roof needs repair, they go to court, etc. They want the peace of mind that the hired person has done it successfully before, is trained on how to do it, and takes responsibility that the job will be done right.

Sure, specialists can make mistakes but the chances are MUCH greater if you do it yourself.

As myself and others have written, if there comes a time when assistance is required one should not be unwilling to seek it out. Not everyone can do everything themselves. There is a joke about people who never ask for directions until they are hopelessly lost. wink.gif In cases like these you often get what you pay for. smile.gif

We just received our "PINK" result at the GUZ interview two days ago. We used Roger Lin, I'm sure we could not have done it without his assistance!! The main benefit of using Roger, is that he can speak to your wife/girlfriend in her native language... There are many rumors floating around about each step of the process... my wife was on the phone to Roger constantly, and he was always able to explain everything in detail, and clear up any gossip.... Roger is very experienced, very well prepared. He was our step-by-step guide through the entire process and took care of all the details.. His fee is very reasonable... So for anyone that may need help, I would give him our highest recommend!!
