I was wondering if anyone one here has submitted the evidence they ask for in the I-864, asking for "photocopy of your IRS tax return or IRS Transcript.." So if you submit a copy of the 1040 that you filed, that was accepted by NVC, is that OK?

OR does anyone know if NVC requires actually getting a transcript of your tax return from IRS?? I just want to make sure that when I submit my I-864 that sending in copy of my return is good enough...

Advice, anyone?

Thanks,

The ITR is much better option since you do not have to include the W2 with it. I have submitted my ITR with no problem. You have two options in submitting your I-864:

(1) Copy of your Federal income tax returns with W2, 1099, etc
(2) ITR

Good luck :-)

When I received my ITR it came with a cover sheet for every years transcript requested. When I send my transcript to the NVC with my DS-230 do I have to include this cover sheets? Another things did you use transcripts as per option (2) or option (1)?

If you just submit what they ask for, the previous year's tax return copy, W-2s, associated 1099s, etc....is that good enough, if your income is very good (well above poverty line), and you don't need any additional income to qualify? Or since it may be "recommended" to submit Employment Verficiation Letter from your Employer, do you guys advise doing that?? I was just going to send them what they require, and not the additional things..but will that be good enought for them to buy off on it and contiune? Anybody with expericnce with this??

What I filed:

2006 - photocopy of 1040 form with photocopy of W-2's and photocopy of 1099 form (from interest earned savings account).
2005 - Did not have a copy of the taxes I filed that year. So I requested an copy from the IRS (transcript)
2004 - IRS transcript

The NVC does nothing it doesn't have to do (like asking the IRS for a copy of your taxes).

YOU ARE THE ONE that gives YOUR TAX INFORMATION to the NVC.

As long as you present photocopy of the 1040 forms and copies of supporting tax documents that normally go with the filing, you should be ok. A transcript is only needed if you do not have copies of your filed taxed

From my recent I864 form instructions Section #25

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photo copies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.
