Does anyone know if they are still giving out work permits at New York point-of-entry?
Shub
They did as of July, I figure they still do. I'm pretty sure I've seen some more recent posts mentioning people getting their work stamp there, too. When you go through, be sure to ask the officers there if you did get it.

How does that work? Do they automatically just stamp it in or do you have to give them a special form?
We have to go through JFK since I live in brooklyn anyways, so why not get the EAD!?

They'll just stamp the back of the I-94 form which you were given on the plane. Simply fill it out on the plane, give it to the immigration officer, they should do the rest, which is to separate most of the I-94 form in two, keep one part for their records, staple the other part (the departure part) in your passport next to the visa, and stamp the stub with the work authorization.

At the POE, they will probably do the first part of whatever it is they do out at one of those glassed-in booths, then send your SO into a sort of side room on the left with a long counter at the front and lots of chairs. This is where they do the EAD stamp. Tell your SO to check the the back of the little white I-94 card (they'll staple it into his passport) for an employment authorization stamp before he leaves this room. At least this is how it was 2 years ago (exactly two years on 10-21 biggrin.gif) . I haven't read anything since (about JFK) that leads me to believe things have changed, but hopefully someone with more recent experience will chime in, too.

Best wishes!

Yes JFK still does. I came here 23 September going through JFK and got one (without even asking)
