Hello Everyone:

Is anyone here can give me information about k2 visa? My kids has their K2 visa and it will expire December 2007. My questions is, how can we make extensions since they are still attending school and we are planning to get them March 2008.

I do appreciate any informations you can give.

Have you called the Manila Embassy? I'm not sure if they give extensions to K2 visas, but that might be the first place to ask.

It's my understanding that if the K2 visa expires you will not be able to get an extension.

I read that theres this follow-to-join rule that they will be given 1 year after the approval of our visas..i am confused because they did not elaborate further on how to make extension, if ever they cant travel w/in 6 months which is the validity period of the visa.

According to what I read on here, the follow to join rule states that your children can apply for and receive their K2 visa at anytime before the one year date of your K1 visa approval. Once they receive their visa, it is good for 6 months. If they received their K2 visa at the same time you received your K1 visa, the six month clock starts ticking. I do not know if they will give you an extension.

Good luck!

unfortunately the answer is no, at least that's the answer i got when I asked the Embassy this question last year. If so, I you don't bring the kids before their visas expire, you will have to start from scratch by filing an
I-130's for them. that process can take over a year. on follow to join, the 1 year is the time you have for the K-2 to be issued. once issued, they have to be used within 6 months. the Embassy does not elaborate on how to extend a K-2, since that option is not available.
still you can contact the Embassy to see if that has changed.
