My case was completed at NVC on October 22 at one of the many consulates that just turned Appointment NVC processing last month. The embassy's website posts the immigrant visa interview schedule here: http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/iv_dates.php

I've read here that NVC only schedules interviews once a month. However, it appears that interviews are still being added to the schedule weekly! While I realize some of these might be for cases sent to them in September before the changeover went into effect, I'm quite surprised that the scheduling isn't slowing down nor becoming more dominated by K1/K3 appointments (for which the embassy lists the CIS receipt number as well). Or, maybe the 1-month scheduling rule doesn't apply to every embassy?

What experience have others had, recently or in the near past, when embassies switched over from standard to appointment processing with regards to the embassy's interview schedule?

We didn't notice anything different when Bogotá changed its process back in April. Several people told me that appointments are made the second week of the month for the following month and then the NVC confirmed this information when I called them.

Come to think of it, it is the same way for K1 and K3 visas. If the beneficiary lets the embassy know that they have gathered all paperwork before the 15th/16th of the month, they get their appointment scheduled for the following month, if not, then they have to wait until the month after that. But then again, this is Bogotá, Colombia I'm talking about, it could be different for all other embassies.

Thanks so much!

This was especially surprising, since I was sure we were missing several required original documents! (which would take more than the time needed to get an RFE to obtain)

(I still think they are required, but thank goodness we have the extra time until the interview!)

So, Bogotá always scheduled once a month even before NVC took over scheduling?

In that case, it sounds like scheduling is still subject to embassy policy, not an NVC administrative practice.

Yes, Bogotá follows pretty much the same rules when it comes to scheduling appointments for these type of visas. Once a month for the following month.

Hi

For India... they consulates come out with 16 to 18 pages as first list as told to me by others and then it adds same amount of 16 pages as second and final list for the month ... I guess its upto the load of petitions they have. I also think it all depends on your luck too when we are dealing with US consulates. Because they have lots of petitions, inquireies and stuff going on each day.
